Virtual reality headsets have taken over the gaming world, giving gamers the sensation that they are inside the game.

Now, Denver gamers can literally be inside the game at Electric Gamebox, an immersive group gaming experience that launched this week at 9+CO located at 825 Albion St.

The facility is made of several interactive smart rooms, or “gameboxes,” that can host two to six players for a private gaming experience.

The gameboxes combine projection mapping, touch screens, motion tracking and surround sound technologies to deliver an immersive experience — no headphones required. Each player wears a visor to help track their movement within the Gamebox.

Visitors can choose from seven different games ranging from 30 minutes to one hour long. The games feature a variety of missions, such as helping tech billionaires establish a colony on Mars or taking on the role of Agent James Bunny to take down a criminal operation at Casino Tropicale. The company said new games will be released monthly.

The games are suitable for anyone over the age of five, according to Electric Gamebox. Ticket prices range from $5 to $29.95 and can be purchased both online and in-store.

Electric Gamebox launched in the U.K. in 2019. Denver is its eighth location since entering the U.S. market in December of 2020. The company plans to open another 33 locations in the next two years, according to its website.
