Don’t call it a comeback.

According to statistics from LaborIQ and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the Denver-Aurora-Lakewood area has added more than 40,000 new jobs in the first six months of 2021 — placing them ahead of other popular tech metros like San Francisco and Seattle.

And the job market for the tech sector looks especially promising. In recent interviews with Built In Colorado, employees at nine local companies explained that not only are their respective companies hiring, but they’re also offering opportunities for career growth and the ability to make an instant impact.

From roles spanning from marketing to software engineering and everything in between, the following companies are looking for new, talented individuals to join their ranks. See where the next step in your career journey will be.

Sam Violette
Senior Director of Engineering • Nordstrom

What they do: The 120-year-old fashion retailer has operations across the country through stores like Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and Trunk Club.

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

It can be difficult to find a company that fully aligns with your values and also uses the latest technologies to keep your skills and experience current. Nordstrom offers the best of both worlds. Our digital platforms are built using the latest tools and frameworks and are deployed at a massive scale across our brands.

And despite that scale, we’re committed to extending the Nordstrom way of doing business to our digital channels. That means being transparent with our customers and making sure that when customers complete a purchase in our app, they’re left with the same amazing feeling they have when they leave our stores.

I love working at a company where I don’t need to check my values at the door when I start each day.”

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you'll do to help your company get there?

We are seeing the results of the work we’ve put into our technology platforms pay off and show up for our customers. From more personalized product recommendations and styling experiences to the new platform that powers our Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com websites and mobile apps customer experiences. Our customers are going to see new and improved experiences every time they shop with Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack and Trunk Club. Combining the digital scale of our brands, our commitment to inclusive style, and our deep fashion expertise will allow us to be closer to the customer and make them look good and feel their best.

Roxy DeSantis-Nunally
Ethics & Compliance Portal Team Lead • OneTrust

What they do: Convercent helps organizations design, implement and measure effective compliance programs.

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

I connect with the broader mission at Convercent. Doing what we do every day has a deeper meaning here. We actually care about the technology and thought leadership that we offer. It unlocks a unique brilliance to our teams that I haven’t found anywhere else. I have been supported to continue to build my own skillset to reach my own career goals.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you’ll do to help your company get there?

The ethics and compliance space is ripe for Convercent as a forward-thinking, human-centric technology company. It is a really exciting time to be part of the ethics movement. The ethics and compliance portal team, in particular, is an inspiring group to work alongside. What we are building now and where the vision is for where we are headed is very exciting. I cannot wait to see where we are in a year, two years down the road. That energy is wonderful fuel to grow and meet every challenge.

Sem Kurtulus
Sr. Software Development Architect • Eventus Solutions Group

What they do: Eventus provides strategy, consulting and leading-edge technologies to help its clients engage with their contact center customers

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company, and why?

Having over 20 years of corporate background delivering some of the biggest contact center solutions, my expectations for the next chapter of my career were high. I wanted to work for a company where I could bring my experience and unique background to help a company grow, while I learned new stuff from others to grow myself. I wanted to have a leadership team that understands the market trends and quickly moves the company, the team and its knowledge toward emerging technologies. Investing in my knowledge and growth will always be my main goal in my career path, and it aligns with Eventus's core values of excellence and collaboration.

I’m looking forward to the years to come at Eventus where I can thrive in our culture and continue to help the company grow.”

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you'll do to help your company get there?

While technology and society have a close relationship, technology has always dictated society. In recent years, we have witnessed where society is driving the technology that is required for that very moment. Companies that will be able to shift gears when it’s needed will continue to grow. Eventus has a diverse and skilled team of experts and has been hiring many highly skilled individuals that will not only provide tactical support, but also a spectrum of knowledge that we can all learn from. My career has revolved around business growth due to exceptional customer service and technical knowledge.

Tracy Karol
Automation Engineer II • Magnite

What they do: SpotX is a video advertisement platform.

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

I’ve been a part of SpotX (now part of Magnite) since 2017 and I have stuck with the company because of the incredible learning opportunities and strong connections I’ve made with my coworkers. It’s rare to find a company with such sophisticated technology and a casual work environment like we have. It’s important to me to work somewhere where I can continue to learn and grow as an engineer as the company moves forward with new tools to make the best products.

Being an automation engineer, I get to collaborate with teams from many different aspects of our tech stack and I learn something new almost every day. Work-life balance is another crucial part of why I have stayed over the years. Quarterly mental health days off are a great example of why I feel like I matter to the company as a person, not just an employee. I feel appreciated by my team, upper management, and Magnite as a whole and I truly feel at home here.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you'll do to help your company get there?

I’m most interested to see how engineering is going to combine and leverage the best qualities from SpotX and Magnite’s technologies. I look forward to automating new processes, learning how Magnite’s system is similar and different to SpotX’s, and helping to make the transition as smooth as possible. I’m sure it will be an interesting challenge!

Jared von Halle
Software Engineering Director • OrthoFi

What they do: OrthoFi develops software solutions that support both orthodontists and their patients by streamlining time-consuming administrative processes for doctors while helping them grow their businesses.

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

The main thing that’s kept me excited about working at OrthoFi is that working here gives me the best opportunity to learn and grow my skills. As a rapidly growing company, OrthoFi moves quickly in making decisions and releasing new features. From a technical perspective, we have a modern technology stack, aren’t afraid to experiment, and take time to collaborate on the best approach for solving problems.

We also allow people to advance their careers along whatever path best suits them. I was able to move from a technical role into my current role managing teams, while other engineers have remained on a technical track but still advanced at the company. Finally, I’m surrounded by people who care about their work. I learn best when I can do so alongside other motivated people, and we have a group of people here who are all looking to get better together. At OrthoFi, I’m building transferable skills faster than I ever have before.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you'll do to help your company get there?

The thing that excites me most about future work at OrthoFi is that the problems we’re solving are only getting harder (in a good way!). There is so much opportunity as we look to move into new markets, implement more complex features, and support greater scale.

Within the last year, OrthoFi has purchased two companies, including one which was previously our biggest competitor. Integrating companies is challenging, but it also presents really interesting technical and product-related problems to solve. As an engineering team, those problems have pushed us to grow our practices and architectures. We’re on a journey to build stronger APIs, craft better user experiences, utilize more automation, and think about new ways to store and share data.

Ngoc Phan
Full Stack Engineer • Homebot

What they do: Homebot’s platform helps maximize repeat and referral business for lenders and real estate agents by delivering personalized, actionable insights to their clients

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

The biggest reason I have stayed at Homebot is the culture. Homebot upholds a cooperative environment, where everyone works towards lifting each other up to reach a common goal. It’s an empowering and inspiring atmosphere to be a part of every day. What’s more, everyone’s voice is valued and appreciated. I know that my opinion matters and I have the ability to make a big impact. Another great aspect of Homebot’s culture is its people. I work with intelligent, humble, solution-focused people who whole-heartedly value collaboration and a fail-fast mindset. I love that Homebot never dwells on the problem, but rather values finding the solution and iterating on what works.

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you'll do to help your company get there?

Being on the product team, I’m most excited to see what features we can build next. We have such a beautiful and intentional product, it’s difficult to imagine a world where Homebot becomes even better — yet somehow it always does. Homebot has professionals that are very skilled at what they do, and the product is beautiful and well thought out. The design and overall customer experience go through numerous iterations of user-testing and design reviews, which makes the final product something I am proud of. I am excited to contribute my thoughts to these new projects and build them in a way that not only delights our users but is technically sound. I feel like a part of a well-oiled machine.

Chris Schedler
Associate Paid Social Strategist • Location3

What they do: Location3 provides digital marketing solutions for franchise systems and multi-location businesses.

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company, and why?

The deciding factor was the opportunity to jump in and make an immediate impact while knowing that leadership and senior management were competent enough to guide me through the learning curve of starting a new role. We get to hold up entire corporations doing what we love.

The reason I’ve stayed is that we can see a direct correlation between our clients’ success and the work we do.”

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you’ll do to help your company get there?

I love how adaptive my company is. Asking what the future looks like is a tough question in unprecedented times, but knowing you have full confidence that your company will be able to navigate any storm is peace of mind that’s invaluable to any employee.

What was the deciding factor for you when you accepted your job at your current company, and why?

CirrusMD made it an easy choice to join the team. During the interview process, the people were friendly and showed a passion for learning and growing. I was asked what I was interested in and where I wanted my career to go. It was clear that everyone enjoyed working for the company and had a good work-life balance. Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you’ll do to help your company get there?

Two industries that have always had a promising future are technology and healthcare. I am excited to be working for a company that is a mix of both. Knowing that what we are building will help people have access to medical professionals when they are in need motivates me every day.

Craig Whittington
Director, Southwest Regional Sales • LogRhythm

What they do: LogRhythm is a security information and event management (SIEM) platform that alerts enterprises across six continents of cyber and operational risk.

As a tenured employee, what has been the biggest reason you’ve stayed at your company so long?

There are two main reasons I have stayed with LogRhymth for 13 years. First, it’s the company’s focus on technology and innovation to deliver best-in-class security solutions helping our customers protect their organization.

Secondly, and most importantly, it’s been the people I work with. LogRhythm has a great way of both attracting and retaining people that love technology and fit right in with our culture. Our values of “customer first,” “collaboration”, “integrity,” “urgency,” and “roll them up” mentality make LogRhythm a very special place to be. From our executives to the front lines to the back office, everyone has those dynamics built into their DNA.

While there is a ton of tenure still here at LogRhythm, the talent that we continue to bring aboard has been impressive as well. It doesn’t matter what division you talk to — everyone really seems to carry the same mentality wrapped around customers and customer success.

It’s been a great thing to be a part of.  We’ve all made friends for life!”

Looking to the future, what excites you most about where your company is headed or, more specifically, the work you'll do to help your company get there?

Everyone at LogRhythm is hugely excited about the next evolution of our security platform. The company is making bold moves starting with the acquisition of Mistnet back in January, and the combination of the SIEM plus NDR technology is going to make the next phase of LogRhythm a very exciting time. A new unified platform will catapult LogRhythm into the XDR market where we will continue to focus on the success of our customers now and into the future. I can’t wait to get it in front of our community.
