Malwarebytes is reimagining security to safeguard devices, data, and people — no matter their location, lifestyle, or means. What began in 2008 with one person helping another remove a malware infection has grown into a global leader in online protection, with an all-in-one suite of cybersecurity, privacy, and identity protection solutions that empower millions of people worldwide to enjoy their digital lives, free from threats and scams.

About Malwarebytes Inc.

Our portfolio has grown far beyond malware removal into a full suite of award-winning cybersecurity, privacy, and identity solutions, from the free tools that have long served as a first line of defense to newer options for identity protection and personal data removal. The threat landscape keeps getting faster, stealthier, and more sophisticated, and we believe protection should be both powerful and refreshingly simple — because security that's too hard to use doesn't get used. Built and beloved by experts, we combine world-class threat research with proprietary, AI-powered processes to deliver powerful digital protection that's always by your side.

Malwarebytes is looking for..

Malwarebytes protects millions of people and businesses from online threats. We are looking for a Windows Platform Architect with deep knowledge of Windows internals and performance to shape the core of our Windows product.

This is a hands-on senior technical role, not a people manager role. You will design and build the low-level parts of our product that run on millions of PCs, and make sure they are safe, stable, fast, and light. You will be the senior Windows technical lead in the US, working with our Windows and Core Technology teams in the US and Europe, as well as Research, Cloud, and Product.

Compensation: $240k - $250k Base with 15% Bonus

What You Will Do:

  • Own the design of core Windows components, from kernel drivers to user mode services
  • Make our product fast and light: cut CPU use, memory use, and startup time
  • Find and fix hard system issues using crash dumps, traces, and kernel debugging
  • Lead driver signing and certification work with Microsoft
  • Help resolve urgent issues during US hours, such as certificate, signing, or false positive problems
  • Review new Windows features and APIs and decide how we should use them
  • Work with Research to bring new protection features down to the OS level
  • Use AI tools to speed up how we design, build, and test
  • Coach engineers on Windows internals and good design
  • Deliver clear gains in memory and CPU use across our Windows product
  • Lead the design of at least one major driver or core component change
  • Become the go-to person for Windows platform issues during US hours

Skills You'll Need to Have:

  • 10+ years building software, with deep focus on Windows internals
  • Hands-on kernel driver work: file system minifilters, kernel callbacks, and the Windows driver model
  • Strong C and C++ skills
  • Experience with C# and .NET performance, including startup time and memory use
  • Skill with performance and debugging tools such as WinDbg, ETW, WPA, and PerfView
  • Experience shipping software that runs with high rights on a large number of PCs, where stability matters most
  • A track record of solving hard problems and shipping production software
  • Clear writing and speaking, and a habit of sharing knowledge with others

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with security products such as antivirus or endpoint protection
  • Knowledge of ELAM, Protected Process Light, or other Windows security features
  • Experience with driver certification (HLK, WHQL, attestation signing)
  • Experience with cloud to endpoint telemetry
