Ursa Major was founded to revolutionize how America and its allies access and apply high-performance propulsion, from hypersonics to solid rocket motors, satellite maneuvering and launch. The Inspection Team plays a critical role in verifying internally and externally generated features for our propulsion systems. The sheer number of components and complexity of checks requires excellent communication between Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and others. We are looking for an individual to lead the Weekend Inspection Team, ensuring that complex checks are performed accurately and that communication is smooth. This position is scheduled for three 12-hour shifts, Friday through Sunday, supporting weekend inspection operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a team of stellar inspection individuals including training, managing performance, and development
- Coordinate with Planning and Quality leadership to handle competing priorities for Inspection Team resources
- Address missing information and documentation with Receiving, Engineering, and other interested parties
- Inspect complex aerospace components and assemblies using industry leading equipment and techniques
- Perform or coordinate training
- Ensure that inspection spaces are well organized and stocked to meet operational needs
- Other duties as directed by Quality leadership
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience inspecting complex products or assemblies using hand tools (Micrometer, Calipers, etc.) and Coordinate Measuring Machines
- Excellent communication skills
- Critical thinking skills to address problems autonomously
- Exceptional interpersonal skills to manage the Inspection Team and build relationships with other departments
- Cultural approach that matches the respect, resilience, and results values of Ursa Major
Desired Experience:
- Experience directing or managing other employees
- Experience scheduling or prioritizing tasks from multiple incoming sources
- ASQ or other quality-related certification
- Experience with lean principles, 5S, Kanban systems, or six sigma
- Experience with complex machined components, avionics, assemblies, or subassemblies
- Familiarity with automated inspection equipment
Colorado law requires us to tell you the base compensation range of this role, which is $46.15 - $56.70 per hour, determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
