Role Overview

As a Web Analytics & Technical Marketing Specialist, you will support a variety of analytics, tracking, CMS, technical SEO, and general web implementation tasks across client websites. You’ll work closely with our web development, analytics, and digital marketing teams to implement solutions, troubleshoot technical issues, and support day-to-day client needs.

Projects may range from configuring conversion tracking in Google Tag Manager and building GA4 reports to publishing website content, implementing structured data, performing site-speed audits, or troubleshooting marketing technology integrations.

We’re looking for someone technically versatile, comfortable working across different platforms, and capable of independently taking a well-defined task from assignment through implementation, QA, and documentation. Workload will vary week-to-week depending on internal demand.

This is a part-time, contractor, as-needed position.


Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement, test, and deploy tags, triggers, and variables within Google Tag Manager
  • Configure and troubleshoot GA4 events, conversions, custom dimensions, and reporting
  • Set up and validate conversion tracking for Google Ads and other advertising platforms
  • Troubleshoot tracking issues, dataLayer problems, attribution issues, and sequencing/timing issues
  • Write and maintain lightweight JavaScript for GTM and other web-based implementations
  • Debug and refine custom scripts used for form tracking, lead tracking, cookie compliance, and other client-specific requirements
  • Build GA4 Explorations, reports, and dashboards to help teams understand website and conversion performance
  • Audit existing analytics and GTM implementations and recommend improvements
  • Support privacy and consent implementations, including Consent Mode and CMP integrations
  • Perform website QA, browser testing, and technical troubleshooting
  • Perform basic website performance and site-speed audits using tools such as Lighthouse and PageSpeed Insights
  • Implement and validate structured data/schema markup and assist with other technical SEO tasks
  • Make content and configuration updates within CMS platforms, including publishing blog posts and updating existing pages
  • Assist with redirects, metadata, sitemap/indexation issues, and other routine website maintenance tasks
  • Communicate findings clearly and document completed work within internal workflows (Asana, Slack, etc.)

Required Skills & Experience

  • 2+ years hands-on experience with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics 4
  • Strong understanding of GTM fundamentals, including tags, triggers, variables, dataLayer, and custom HTML implementations
  • Experience configuring GA4 events, key events/conversions, custom dimensions, and reports
  • Solid JavaScript knowledge, particularly for analytics, tracking, and lightweight website implementations
  • Working knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Ability to debug technical issues using browser DevTools, including the console, network requests, cookies, and dataLayer
  • Familiarity with major advertising and marketing platforms such as Google Ads, LinkedIn, Meta, Microsoft Ads, and similar platforms
  • Experience working within CMS platforms such as WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, or similar systems
  • General understanding of technical SEO concepts, including structured data, redirects, metadata, sitemaps, and indexation
  • Familiarity with website performance tools such as Google PageSpeed Insights and Lighthouse
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to implementation and QA
  • Ability to work independently, manage asynchronous tasks, and learn unfamiliar platforms when necessary
  • Ability to clearly document technical work and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical team members

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot, or other marketing automation platforms
  • Experience with server-side Google Tag Manager
  • Experience with Looker Studio or other reporting/dashboard tools
  • Understanding of cookie compliance, Consent Mode, and common CMP platforms
  • Experience implementing JSON-LD and structured data
  • Familiarity with SEO and auditing tools such as Screaming Frog, SEMrush, or Ahrefs
  • Experience troubleshooting embedded forms, third-party scripts, and marketing technology integrations
  • Experience with common hosting and deployment platforms
  • Experience working across multiple client websites in an agency environment
  • Experience working with distributed teams and asynchronous project management workflows

Benefits

Hourly: $60–70/hr
Available Hours: 2 - 20 hours per week, based on assignments available
Engagement: Part-time contractor, as needed
