The Vice President, Marketing leads Tanger’s enterprise-wide marketing strategy with a laser focus on driving measurable retailer sales, center traffic, and database acquisition. This role applies critical analysis, predictive modeling, and forecasting tools to inform marketing decisions and optimize performance across the portfolio. The VP is responsible for executive-level reporting on a monthly, seasonal, and quarterly cadence, using Tanger’s strategy framework to communicate insights, evaluate marketing effectiveness, and shape future initiatives. This role oversees national marketing initiatives including retailer sales strategy, promotional offers, seasonal, cause and community marketing, leasing and national retailer marketing, loyalty, and marketing operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategic Marketing Leadership

  • Develop and execute data-driven marketing strategies that align with Tanger’s business objectives and leverage predictive analytics to anticipate trends and drive retailer sales and traffic.
  • Apply critical analysis to performance data to identify opportunities, gaps, and strategic pivots.
  • Own the development and evolution of Tanger’s annual marketing content and planning calendars as well as multi-year strategic marketing roadmap, ensuring alignment with enterprise growth targets and retail partner priorities.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to ensure seasonal, promotional, cause-related, and experiential marketing programs are impactful, measurable, and aligned with Tanger’s strategic framework.
  • Present marketing strategies, performance insights, and future recommendations with executive presence in meetings with national retail partners, internal teams and internal leadership.

Retailer Sales Strategy, Relationships & Offers Strategy

  • Own the strategic planning and execution of retailer promotional offer strategy and intensification initiatives, including performance tracking, sales attribution modeling, and marketing support.
  • Develop retailer segmentation and benchmarking models to tailor marketing strategies and improve sales outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary marketing liaison to the leasing team and national retailers, representing the Marketing Department in high-level retailer meetings and quarterly business reviews.
  • Collaborate with the VP of Marketing Partnerships to develop sponsorship programs that support retailer success and drive incremental revenue.
  • Lead the development, execution and reporting of promotional offer strategies that drive traffic and sales across the portfolio, ensuring alignment with retailer goals, seasonal business cycles, and consumer behavior insights.

Customer Engagement, Loyalty & Lifecycle Strategy

  • Own executive oversight of Tanger’s loyalty strategy, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives to drive customer acquisition, lifetime value, visit frequency, and retention across the portfolio.
  • Define the long-term vision for Tanger’s loyalty ecosystem, including membership structure, value proposition, and integration with retailer offers, media, and experiential marketing.
  • Lead the prioritization of loyalty initiatives and product roadmap in partnership with Customer Engagement & Loyalty leadership, ensuring initiatives are scalable, measurable, and aligned to business impact.
  • Establish enterprise KPIs for loyalty performance, including member acquisition, engagement, frequency, retention, and contribution to retailer sales, and ensure consistent reporting and accountability across the organization.
  • Oversee the integration of loyalty data into marketing strategy, leveraging first-party data to inform segmentation, targeting, personalization, and campaign optimization across all channels.
  • Ensure loyalty is embedded across all marketing programs, including promotional offers, seasonal campaigns, partnerships, and experiential activations, to create a cohesive and differentiated customer experience.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Technology, Operations, Finance, and Leasing to ensure loyalty capabilities, platforms, and data infrastructure support current and future business needs.

Marketing Operations and Workflow

  • Lead the Marketing Operations function, overseeing project management, workflow optimization, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Standardize, document and maintain marketing processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and reporting across the organization.
  • Manage executive-level reporting on a monthly, seasonal, and quarterly basis using Tanger’s strategy framework to communicate data, insights, and future strategy recommendations.

Budgeting and Financial Oversight

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and accruals for NAD and CX budgets, including CapEx, OpEx, and G&A.
  • Support Senior Director, Customer Engagement & Loyalty in budgeting, forecasting, and accruals for LOY budgets, including CapEx, OpEx, and G&A.

  • Ability to understand metrics, to select relevant and insightful metrics and employ evidence-based decision making and support key decisions with data analysis.
  • Solid attention to detail with strong organization and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet multiple deadlines
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend the English language

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in marketing or business
  • 15+ years’ experience in strategic marketing

HIRING RANGE DISCLAIMER

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Tanger's total compensation package for employees. 

Hiring Range: $153,000 - $220,000 per year
