Hexcel is currently seeking a VP R&T, US Government Research to be located in the Washington DC area. This position may also be located within close proximity to one of the US Government labs.
The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:
- This position will report to the Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer and have responsibility for increasing R&T government funding, submitting proposals, managing projects, and growing relationships with key stakeholders.
- Establish and lead Hexcel technical program engagement with US Government Research, Space and DoD laboratories, affiliate universities, and corporate partners for government funding opportunities. Key relationship to include: AFRL, ONR, NAVAIR, NAVSEA, China Lake, Redstone Arsenal, NASA, DOE – Oak Ridge National Laboratory, National Science Foundation, DoD University Affiliated Research Laboratories, Federally Funded Research and Development Centers, and other government stakeholders).
- Develop and maintain long range research programs, which are aligned to Hexcel strategic priorities and US Government security interests.
- Manage key strategic government relationships for R&T which will include key account management and key program management activities to ensure success.
- This person will engage and respond to Broad Agency Announcements for government funding opportunities, engage in technical discussions, and maintain regular technical discussions with U.S. Government stakeholders and universities.
- Collaborate closely with Vice President of Government Relations on Federal funding opportunities and Congressionally Directed Spending priorities.
- Collaborate with Defense and Space business to identify Prime partners for joint development programs, align.
- Accountable for significant new revenue growth for Hexcel R&T.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Engineering, or related field. Ph.D. preferred.
- More than 15 years of experience in management roles supporting the U.S. Government or DoD platforms.
- Prior experience of working at a DoD military lab, government lab or University. DoD engagement a plus.
- Knowledge of composite materials, properties, and applications is essential. Knowledge of applications, part design engineering and material production, and fabrication is a plus.
- Expert level skills in writing and creating proposals to secure new opportunities with key customers
- Strong presentation, project management and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail in composing and proving materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
- Possession of or ability to obtain a security clearance a plus
