Role Overview:
The VP, Marketing reports to the CEO and owns the marketing function end to end, with full accountability for growth strategy, execution, and measurable business impact. This leader will evolve the company from primarily brand-led momentum to a diversified, performance-driven growth engine, translating business priorities into a cohesive go-to-market strategy and positioning marketing as a durable driver of revenue and enterprise value.
The role sets strategy and drives execution of the full marketing engine, including brand, demand generation, performance channels, digital experience, lifecycle and customer marketing, product marketing, analytics infrastructure, MarTech, and adaptation to evolving search and AI-driven discovery platforms.
Success requires strong strategic judgment and operational rigor, along with close partnership across Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Finance to align acquisition, activation, retention, and expansion. The VP will make disciplined investment decisions, build scalable systems and teams, and deliver measurable gains in acquisition efficiency, customer lifetime value, and competitive position.
Primary Responsibilities:
Drive Profitable Growth
Own marketing’s contribution to ARR growth across self-service and sales-assisted segments.
Build and scale a diversified acquisition engine across paid, organic, partner, and lifecycle channels.
Set clear performance targets and allocate investment based on measurable return and unit economics.
Establish disciplined management of CAC, payback, and cohort quality.
Strengthen Market Position and Customer Value
Define and elevate EZ Texting’s positioning and differentiation in the SMS and messaging category.
Improve full-funnel performance from acquisition through activation, retention, and expansion.
Partner with Product and Customer Success to increase engagement, loyalty, and customer lifetime value.
Ensure durable visibility across search, competitive ecosystems, and AI-driven discovery platforms.
Refine the Marketing Engine
Lead and develop a high-performing marketing organization with clear accountability and execution rigor.
Build scalable operating cadence, analytics infrastructure, and MarTech systems to support growth.
Manage agency and vendor partners with clear outcomes, performance standards, and ROI discipline.
Operate as a player-coach in a lean environment, balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
Qualifications
12+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience in SaaS or subscription businesses, ideally within marketing technology.
7+ years leading growth strategies for SMB and MidMarket audiences, including direct-to-purchase SaaS motions tied to ARR outcomes.
Proven success driving measurable ARR growth in competitive, performance-oriented markets.
Experience presenting to and reporting at the board level, translating marketing performance, investment strategy, and unit economics into clear, decision-oriented insights.
Deep expertise across demand generation, performance marketing, SEO, lifecycle/customer marketing, and product positioning.
Strong command of unit economics, including LTV, payback, churn, and cohort dynamics.
Experience managing significant paid media investment with clear revenue accountability.
Demonstrated ability to build scalable marketing systems, analytics rigor, and high-performing teams.
Demonstrated experience integrating AI into marketing strategy and operations, including automation, optimization, analytics, and visibility within AI-driven discovery platforms.
What We Offer
Compensation: This role is eligible for the benefits & perks listed below. Depending on your location, the starting cash compensation range, inclusive of Base Salary + Variable Target, vs base salary only is:
Tier 1 (Bay Area, NYC, SEA) : $264,745- $363,375.60
Tier 2 (LA, SD, BOS, ATX, DC, PHI): $252,978.63- $334,305.55
Tier 3 (DAL, ATL, HOU, NSH, MIA, ALB): $235,328.96- $319,770.53
Tier 4 (Other): $205,912.84- $290,700.48
Our compensation market ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range provided reflects the target cash compensation for new hires in major metropolitan areas. Actual compensation will vary based on the candidate’s specific location, skills, experience, and capabilities, as well as internal benchmarking.
