Job Description:

Role Summary/Purpose:

Responsible for managing the complete lifecycle (onboarding-monitoring-offboarding) for Operations suppliers. Develops and implements comprehensive supplier monitoring plans which include process metrics, SLAs, risk & issue management, and quality requirements ensuring adherence to SYF Supplier management standards. Responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with operations functional stakeholders/leadership and respective supplier aligned to Operations. Works collaboratively with Sourcing and TechOps business leaders to lead strategic discussions for the specific needs of each TechOps subfunction. Leads and partners with Operations functional leadership, Sourcing and Legal teams for contract management and to achieve the strategic goals set for the year. Identifies and implements continuous improvements for key supplier management processes.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Complies with all Synchrony Supplier Risk Management Program Requirements

  • Accountable for the entire lifecycle of the suppliers inclusive of monitoring/evidencing requirements

  • Benchmark and identify industry best practices to implement continuous process improvements for key supplier management processes & workflows.

  • Builds & maintains strong relationships with suppliers & implement oversight & governance plans to effectively monitor metrics, SLAs and quality of service delivery.

  • Ensures ongoing oversight and maintenance of program documentation as required.

  • Lead onsite assessments for suppliers where necessary

  • Leads a program to ensure review of all contractual monitoring documentation (FFIEC, SSAE16, and audit). Summarizes and communicates findings to the team.

  • Performs supplier oversight & management activities, including regular follow-up/completing necessary documentation.

  • Partner with Operations leadership and Sourcing to develop and implement strategic supplier roadmap

  • Identifies and tests risks & controls with a goal of mitigating 3rd party risk exposure.

  • Participates & Leads in Contract Negotiations and RFX events

  • Acts a 1st line of defense ensuring that Supplier Management processes & controls are effective.

  • Participate and/or Lead Tech&Ops initiatives 

  • Coaches & Mentors other members of Supplier Management team

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline with 7+ years of relevant work experience or in lieu of degree, minimum 10 years of Financial Industry experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of People Management experience

  • Experience with Operations function and/or supplier management processes

  • Employees who have completed 18 months in the organization and 12 months in current role and level are only eligible.

  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Experience building and managing large multi-million dollar vendor contracts

  • Knowledge of Synchrony Financial Applications platforms, products, functions and current vendors.

  • Experience working in a regulated industry.

  • Experience working with auditors and regulators such as the Federal Reserve, OCC, and FDIC

  • Additional auditing qualifications (such as CIA, CISA, or CFSA) and understanding of internal audit requirements, as set out by IIA and BIS

  • Deep understanding of general IT controls, application controls, and change audit methodologies, as well as industry accepted standards (i.e. COBIT, ISO)

  • Working knowledge of current financial services technologies

  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills

  • Strong eye for detail & ability to root cause

  • Strong oral and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, and facilitation skills

  • Strong team building skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.

  • Strong Process orientation and ability to identify control gaps and test controls for effectiveness

Grade/Level: 12

                                                            

The salary range for this position is 110,000.00 - 185,000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.

Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
