🌎 The OpportunityWe’re hiring a VP of International Expansion to build and execute Freebird’s global growth strategy. You’ll be responsible for architecting the full international roadmap — from planning and compliance to launch and optimization — across Shopify Plus (via Shopify Markets), Amazon, paid media, and operational functions.
This is a cross-functional leadership role that requires someone who has done this before. You’ll bring structure, clarity, and velocity to one of Freebird’s most important growth initiatives.
💼 What You’ll OwnStrategic Planning & Roadmap
- Build the go-to-market plan for phased international rollout (starting with Canada, UK, EU, AU)
- Lead market research, competitive analysis, pricing, tax/duties, and customer experience modeling
- Determine launch order, channel mix (DTC, Amazon), and expansion levers per market
Cross-Functional Execution & Project Leadership
- Own the international expansion roadmap and align all stakeholders around a clear, trackable plan
- Coordinate execution across Paid Media, Creative, eCommerce, CX, Product, Finance, Amazon, and Operations
- Run sprint-based cross-functional meetings to ensure progress, remove roadblocks, and hit launch dates
Platform Setup & Operational Launch
- Leverage Shopify Plus + Shopify Markets to manage localized sites, payments, currencies, and checkout experiences
- Ensure compliance with tax, import/export laws, and privacy regulations (GDPR, etc.)
- Partner with legal, 3PLs, and tech vendors to ensure seamless fulfillment, customer support, and CX
Localization & GTM Optimization
- Localize site experiences, product pages, policies, FAQs, and packaging (where needed)
- Support creative and media teams in adapting messaging, content, and offers for international markets
- Spin up international ad accounts and Amazon Global marketplaces with appropriate campaign structure and attribution
Optimization & Scale
- Identify and track KPIs to improve performance post-launch (CAC, LTV, CVR, ROAS, CX, fulfillment, etc.)
- Test pricing, offers, creative, site UX, and customer journey in each market to optimize
- Develop repeatable playbooks for launching new markets efficiently
- 5–10+ years in DTC/eCommerce/subscription or CPG
- Hands-on experience leading international expansion for a consumer brand (DTC + Amazon ideally)
- Strong knowledge of Shopify Plus, Shopify Markets, and the international tech/payments/ops ecosystem
- Deep understanding of tax, compliance, fulfillment, shipping, localization, and go-to-market nuances
- Excellent project management, communication, and leadership across multiple functions
- A bias for action, ownership, and doing things right the first time
- Launched both English-speaking and EU/international markets
- Scaled subscription businesses with global infrastructure (e.g., Recharge, Klaviyo, Meta, Google)
- Built or contributed to playbooks for global market entry
