This high visibility, high leverage, high impact opportunity will be responsible for the development and execution of the Global Card Issuing strategy as part of Western Union’s Ecosystem.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting directly to Western Union’s EVP of Ecosystem, this position will be responsible for the development and execution of the Global Card Issuing strategy as part of Western Union’s Ecosystem, including the setup of global issuing capabilities, building a delivery framework, building strategic partnerships in regions where the company has no license, and leverage on current owned licenses within the existing operational framework of Western Union. This role has ownership of the end-to-end product journey, regulatory alignment, and P&L growth of the Card Issuing product line globally. This position requires a deep understanding of financial services in global regulated environments, capability to identify and weigh and prioritize opportunities of market entry, customer acquisition and product operations to ensure full compliance with all applicable regulations. This role is required to control and limit the risks of issuing operations using appropriate strategies and mechanisms including account, transaction, and credit risk in close cooperation with the Enterprise Risk function within Western Union. This position will act as a global General Manager across functions, working with marketing, product, operations, risk, technology, and finance to coordinate efforts for the assigned business. Additionally, this position will work with and lead a global team to ensure a seamless integration is delivered into the omnichannel customer experience. This position has scope for developing the global strategy and overseeing issuing and partnership driven activities for all offered products while utilizing entrepreneurial skills as a strategist, marketer, operations leader, risk manager, regulatory and licensing expert, and other areas.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Establish and execute long-term strategic direction to enable the global issuing teams to tailor secure business functions for our cards business to the reality of the financial services market.
  • Developing and executing strategies for customer acquisition channels and strategic partnerships.
  • Developing customer and market preference assessments and providing detailed product market fit input.
  • Drive market opportunities globally by building Western Union’s own branded payment cards as issuing provider.
  • Develop and implement sustainable operational model based on Ecosystem strategy and leverage on ops and tech teams to further drive product capabilities.
  • Work closely with the regional business teams to ensure strategic and GTM alignment.
  • Partner with our compliance, privacy, legal risk teams ensuring we meet all regulatory requirements and establish the appropriate risk and fraud controls.
  • Responsible for building the global team, onboarding talent and enabling the team to capitalize on strategic initiatives.
  • Foster and inspire internal cross-functional teams building meaningful relationships, leverage our global organization and be a senior Leader navigating and managing the matrix organization, executing scale operations working cross-functional with teams globally.

Role Requirements:

  • 15+ years executive management experience
  • Leadership roles in global retail banking and financial services industry
  • Communication and leadership skills
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution of digital products, payment service or consumer bank products in various countries across the globe.
  • Understanding of key content and provisions of the payment’s regulations, US legislation
  • Ability to understand and steer the interaction with customers, such as sales, product, CX, etc.
  • Able to take strong leadership roles, build bridges between functions to support organizational objectives and business success.
  • Able to have transparent and productive relationships with peers and collaborate successfully.
  • Ability to be a company-wide change-agent that influences strategic actions and mindset changes.

Salary

The base salary range is $275,000 – $350,000 USD per year. An annual bonus and stock incentives align with individual and company performance. Actual salaries will vary based on candidates’ qualifications, skills, and competencies.
