Thrivent is looking for a VP to join our Enterprise Integration Services Engineering team! The Enterprise Integration Services leadership role will take ownership for leading teams in the strategic development, management & lifecycle of Thrivent's Enterprise APIs and Integration platforms. This leader will influence & drive difficult prioritization discussions across Business, Development & 3rd party teams to maximize value for Thrivent. Furthermore, this leader will have deep expertise in building interfaces to core systems while leading adoption of industry best practices to rapidly create reusable integrations designed to service multiple stakeholders across Thrivent's broad product portfolio. The Enterprise Integration leader will also own the roadmap and management of Thrivent’s portfolio (100’s of APIs) and be responsible for its continued optimization, management, availability & scaling to meet demand from 100s of thousands of customers. In addition, this role will lead all integration technology aspects for onboarding new clients & refactoring existing integrations speeding the time to value for both new and existing capabilities. This role is also responsible for coaching teams in the adoption of best practices for building and consuming RESTful APIs & modern event streams. The ideal leader will also be skilled at improving execution, attracting talent and building accountability across Thrivent by modeling modern Product, Agile, and DevSecOps practices to speed software delivery, security & quality.

         

          

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Own a broad portfolio of APIs capable of supporting 100’s of thousands of daily client interactions while interfacing with 100’s of back of office systems
  • Collaborate and influence key stakeholders on the creation of roadmaps for Enterprise APIs and Integrations and provide updates to Senior Leaders and other internal and external stake holders on integration outcomes and value for the organization
  • Evolve and Shape the strategy, architecture, platform, and standards for the integration team.  Specify and Publish standards around the delivery/consumption of RESTful APIs and event streams.
  • Provide technology architectural assessments, strategies, and roadmaps for the integration domain.  Takes ownership of integration architecture to solve business problems and generate maximum value for stakeholders
  • Lead and mentor integration team through complex business and technical problems ranging from connecting modern cloud platforms and standard on-premise platforms.
  • Design reusable assets, components, standards, frameworks, and processes to support and facilitate API and integration projects
  • Able to broadly communicate to business and technology stakeholders the value in migrating/refactoring legacy integration patterns into modern approaches
  • Recruits, develops, and sustains a high-performing team while promoting a culture of shared accountability, operational excellence, and partnership across the organization.

  • Provide thought leadership on partnering with 3rd parties and exposing external APIs to Thrivent systems and customers.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:  

 Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred (Business, IT, Computer Science, Math, Engineering or related field).
  • 10+ years experience driving experience driving business growth through application and adoption of emerging technologies for customer success and optimization at scale within Fortune 500 companies
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated program delivery leadership & experience, including major program sponsorship/leadership.
  • Significant engineering management experience.
  • A deep experience with modern technologies, architectures, product, devsecops and agile development practices, and comfortable and excited by operating in complex, fast-moving environments.
  • A track record of building high-functioning teams and can help us attract, develop, and retain the best engineering talent in the industry.
  • Experience working in large organizations with ability to influence up and down the organization
  • Experience with building & managing robust distributed systems, horizontally scalable architecture, and open-source technologies
  • Proven leading technical and engineering practice transformations across departmental and organizational structures

Preferred: 

  • Deep expertise in building integrations with core systems such as Salesforce, Custom Mainframe Applications, Workday, etc.
  • Preferably experience in effectively managing cross-functional teams, influencing key stakeholders across the organization and within complex environments
  • Broad experience with Cloud API/Integration Platforms technologies such as Kong, Cassandra, Kafka, Spring Boot, AWS & Azure API/Integration services

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $213,796.00 - $320,693.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
