The Vice President, Business Development manages client portfolios and plays a key role in the field organization and builds relationships by providing financial advice to business clients with a focus on client experience and risk management. This position is responsible for developing new business and deepening existing relationships. The VP, Business Development is responsible for senior-level strategy, planning and supervision of business development initiatives and teams including strategic counsel, pitch management and rehearsal, proposal/presentation development, marketing, and prospecting. Help set and achieve corporate, office or regional business development goals. Serve as a strategic liaison between potential clients and senior management as appropriate. Provide new business-related counsel, decision making, problem solving and facilitation necessary to ensure consistency and quality in new business activities. The VP, Business Development reports to the CRO.
Essential Functions

Build collaborative internal and external relationships to provide the best in client advice and service

Develop the business to ensure a seamless experience for the client who has multiple products and services

Serve as a trusted advisor to the client in delivering comprehensive and customized business banking products and solutions tailored to the financial needs and circumstances of business clients

Manage a portfolio of clients; grow portfolio by prospecting for new clients and deepening relationships with existing clients

Use knowledge of business, finance, banking, credit and risk management to identify, recommend and promote products and solutions that best serve the client while still working within risk parameters that protect the firm

Build relationships by calling on existing clients to truly understand their businesses and analyze product and service growth opportunities that ensures profitability of portfolio

Utilize referral networks and centers of influence to identify and pursue potential new clients, looking for ways to cultivate a long-term relationship

Protect the firm by following sound risk management protocols and adhering to regulatory requirements

Manage a disciplined marketing process by identifying steps/strategies necessary to effectively maintain and build relationships with clients and prospects

Education
-
Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field, or equivalent work experience
Experience
-
Eight (8) to fifteen (15) years of experience in a business banking relationship management role or related business lending experience

Strong knowledge of mortgage credit underwriting with professional certifications
-
Strong knowledge of mortgage banking, capital markets, loss mitigation, and foreclosure
-
Must have strong experience and proficiency with Salesforce or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms

Proficient with Microsoft Office

Ability to build relationships with clients and internal partners and influence others without direct control

Ability to identify opportunities, issues and viable alternatives when traditional solutions do not apply

Uses sound judgment to offer comprehensive and customized solutions that best meet client needs; ability to anticipate client needs

Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities, daily, in pursuit of business objectives

Knowledge of diverse types of businesses, industries, markets, financial and economic concepts

Must be a US Citizen and be willing and able to submit for a detailed background investigation for a security clearance

Working Conditions
Work is performed in climate controlled indoor administrative office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate, depending upon office or meeting location.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to remain stationary. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 10 pounds. Vision: Close and distance required with ability to see objects in presence of glare or bright lighting (e.g., computer screen). Speech/Hearing: Frequently interact with management, vendors, coworkers, industry constituents, clients and the public.

Compensation: $135,000 to $150,000 annualized with commission opportunity
