Role Overview:

The Vice President of Business Development & Strategy will collaborate closely with the Head of Corporate Development and Strategy, as well as commercial business units, to formulate and execute World Kinect’s North American growth strategy. This role will be critical in leading and providing full life cycle support for M&A projects, as well as significant organic growth opportunities that expand the business beyond the core operations.The ideal candidate will be a seasoned commercial operator with extensive acquisition experience, combining commercial line management and in-house strategy/corporate development roles.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategy and Market Research:

  • Contribute to the formulation and regular updating of World Kinect strategic plans.

  • Develop an informed and intelligent viewpoint on industry trends and opportunities by leveraging market knowledge, and internal and external sources of information.

External Opportunities (M&A):

  • Develop and manage relationships with industry and investment communities to source potential acquisition opportunities.

  • Screen and pre-qualify external opportunities based on strategic fit and financial return criteria.

  • Perform valuation analysis and financial modeling.

  • Produce investment recommendation materials for internal and Board review.

  • Coordinate the structuring, negotiation, due diligence, and completion of transactions in partnership with Finance and Legal departments.

  • Develop integration strategies in partnership with functional leaders and participate in early phases of integration activity when appropriate.

Organic Growth Initiatives:

  • Serve as an in-house resource for business units in their organic growth initiatives by providing analytical and research support to evaluate and present sizeable attractive opportunities that augment their core strategies but fall outside their capability or bandwidth to process.

  • Coordinate information and activities with the executive leadership team.

Key Qualifications:

  • Experience in the North American Fuel Industry.

  • Retail and wholesale fuel distribution experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years managing a commercial unit with operations and/or P&L responsibility.

  • 5 to 7 years in corporate development roles at acquisitive, fast-paced, multi-national, multi-segment companies.

  • Knowledge and experience in the Energy, Transportation, Distribution, and/or Logistics industries.

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field; Master's degree preferred.

  • Proven track record of professional excellence.

  • Highest level of leadership, presence, and management skills.

  • Experience or relationships with Investment Banking, Venture Capital, or Private Equity.

  • Prior experience with a leading strategy consulting firm.

Key Skills:

  • Strategic thinking and analytical capabilities.

  • High familiarity with valuation methodologies, financial performance metrics and investment structuring.

  • Strong negotiation and relationship management abilities.

  • In-depth understanding of the North American Fuel Industry.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills.
