Video Storyteller (Contractor)Role Description

Role Description
MagicSchool is looking for a visionary Video Storyteller who can craft clear, compelling stories about how MagicSchool AI is used in classrooms. Your work will focus on narrative pieces that help educators, administrators, and students understand our tools and their impact.
You’ll spend time in schools across the country, meet the educators, students and school leaders using MagicSchool, and surface the stories that showcase MagicSchool's transformational impact. You’ll shape both the ideas and the final videos—finding the right angles, capturing real moments, and bringing those stories to life in a way that feels honest and accessible.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for driving towards the following outcomes:

  • Produce compelling narrative video content that helps both technical and non-technical audiences (especially educators) understand our EdTech products and research.

  • Work with internal teams to identify stories and develop creative approaches to tell them.

  • Travel regularly for productions, which may include school site visits and education conferences.

  • Build on the visual language of the Magic School AI brand.

  • Document repeatable processes for video production and post-production to ensure consistency.

  • Begin building a repository of reusable b-roll and templates for future content.

  • Partner closely with the Marketing team to define the video voiceover tone and visual identity.

  • Work collaboratively across marketing, product, and customer experience teams to support launches and evergreen storytelling needs.

Experience & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring the following experience and qualifications:

  • Storytelling Instincts: You must have creative storytelling instincts and the ability to shape narratives, not just execute them.

  • Intellectual Curiosity: You must possess intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn about unfamiliar topics, particularly the intersection of AI and K-12/Higher Education.

Required Experience

  • 3-5+ years of experience producing branded content, documentary films, journalism, or editorial video in fast-moving environments.

  • You possess a deep understanding of the production process and demonstrated experience collaborating with agencies, freelancers, and production partners.

Logistics

  • Contract Duration: This engagement is for ~30 hours/week for an initial 6-month contract period, with the possibility of extension based on performance and business needs.

  • Location/Travel: You'll join us remotely, though a commitment to working from the Denver area is required. Must be willing to embrace regular travel for filming and on-site content capture, estimated to take up 25–40% of your time.

  • Contractor Note: As an independent contractor, you are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and providing your own video equipment/tools necessary to complete contracted work.

Why Join Us?

  • Work on cutting-edge AI technology that directly impacts educators and students.

  • Join a mission-driven team passionate about making education more efficient and equitable.

  • Flexibility of working from home, while fostering a unique culture built on relationships, trust, communication, and collaboration with our team - no matter where they live.

  • For full time employees:

  • Unlimited time off to empower our employees to manage their work-life balance. We work hard for our teachers and users, and encourage our employees to rest and take the time they need.

  • Choice of employer-paid health insurance plans so that you can take care of yourself and your family. Dental and vision are also offered at very low premiums.

  • Every employee is offered generous stock options, vested over 4 years.

  • 401k match & monthly wellness stipend.

Our Values:

  • Educators are Magic:  Educators are the most important ingredient in the educational process - they are the magic, not the AI. Trust them, empower them, and put them at the center of leading change in service of students and families.

  • Joy and Magic: Bring joy and magic into every learning experience - push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI.

  • Community:  Foster community that supports one another during a time of rapid technological change. Listen to them and serve their needs.

  • Innovation:  The education system is outdated and in need of innovation and change - AI is an opportunity to bring equity, access, and serve the individual needs of students better than we ever have before.

  • Responsibility: Put responsibility and safety at the forefront of the technological change that AI is bringing to education.

  • Diversity: Diversity of thought, perspectives, and backgrounds helps us serve the wide audience of educators and students around the world.

  • Excellence:  Educators and students deserve the best - and we strive for the highest quality in everything we do.
