Position Summary: Research is the messaging and strategy backbone of campaigns. We scour all sorts of publicly-available records and sources to gain a deep understanding of the topics and candidates we research. Our Video Research Associates identify and catalog video assets on these subjects, ensuring that all members of the DNC's Research, Communications and Mobilization departments have access to them for use in social media posts, press releases and other external products. They also play a key role in keeping staff informed of coverage trends in national and local media. Some late nights and off-hour work will be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Record, clip and catalog media segments for rapid response needs and for long-term research projects
- Research and analyze trends in local and national news as well as in raw video content
- Compile video or audio-based clips for media coverage reports
- Additional specific research responsibilities, as directed
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of current events relating to Congress, the White House, the Republican Party, and upcoming campaign cycles, with the ability to keep up with the 24-hour news cycle
- Basic understanding of video files and formats, with a demonstrated ability to quickly learn new tech-based databases
- Experience with media monitoring services and clipping tools strongly preferred (including but not limited to LexisNexis, SnapStream, TVEyes, and Snagit)
- Ability to work independently, ask questions, remain responsive, and keep open lines of communication in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Salary: The starting salary for the Video Research Associate position is $54,100.00, on an annualized basis, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This is a full-time, non-exempt position, which means you will be eligible for overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 in a given workweek. This position is in the bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local-500.
