Video Programming Coordinator
The Wall Street Journal is seeking a Video Programming Coordinator, based at WSJ headquarters in New York, to help strategically schedule and place video content across platforms.
You must be comfortable working in a fast-paced newsroom, with work that includes breaking and daily news, and feature and enterprise stories.
The ideal candidate will be strategy-minded, collaborative and exceptionally organized. You have a deep understanding of both on-site platform needs and off-site platforms, and the ability to track and translate analytics into actionable insights
You will:Work closely with internal stakeholders across coverage areas, programming and SEO to program and place video content.
Coordinate cross-team workflows to streamline output and ensure content aligns with video-specific best practices and platform shifts.
Partner with external platform representatives to consistently work on best practices and bespoke per-platform needs
Track and translate analytics trends (CTR, retention, velocity, V7/V30, etc.) into actionable insights and performance reviews.
Partner with producers and journalists to provide pitch feedback and story development guidance to ensure editorial work connects with audience behavior.
Oversee A/B testing and video packaging, including titling, thumbnail direction and metadata
Partner with video leadership, strategy, product and audience teams to develop distinctive video formats that resonate with audiences.
Build relationships with the global newsroom in order to develop a more video-forward way of thinking.
Constantly evaluate our video journalism with an eye for building new methods of storytelling.
An expert knowledge of a wide range of video formats and distribution channels and a finger on the pulse of industry trends.
Deep and intimate understanding of how online video algorithms work, with an exceptional ability to crack these algorithms and achieve audience growth across YouTube, TikTok and other social platforms.
Extensive programming experience and demonstrable knowledge of video platforms best practice, such as optimizing video titles, descriptions, hashtags and thumbnails.
An extensive understanding of video analytics, with an ability to explain why a video did or didn’t perform well.
The ability to break down data and analytics and glean insights
Excellent editorial judgment and communication skills
A sharp eye for stories that resonate with WSJ’s audience
Experience working in a highly collaborative environment across many coverage areas and departments
