Job Summary:
Wealth Enablement ensures every client-facing team member feels supported and knows what to do, when, and why when serving clients. The VP will centralize content strategy, lead curriculum development, and drive solution adoption for a more consistent, proactive client experience. The VP will lead the Enablement function to build scalable, AI-enabled training and content infrastructure across Wealth Management and Wealth Solutions. This leader will set strategy, build the team, and drive behavioral change and adoption at scale — bridging corporate functions and the field.
Essential Job Functions for this role include:
Content Strategy & Curriculum Ownership
- Own the centralized content strategy across all client-facing cohorts — Wealth Management (advisors and client service) and Wealth Solutions (Tax, Estate, Financial Planning, Emerging Solutions).
- Maintain curriculum architecture that separates the CS (Relationship Manager and Service Operations Associate)/Advisor and WM/WS tracks, tailoring content to each audience's complexity and behavioral needs.
- Create high-quality, scalable advisor playbooks, onboarding frameworks, and field-facing tools that equip advisors to deliver better client outcomes — evolving from episodic content to a centralized, maintained system.
- Partner with Relationship Expansion so advisor-facing content is built for field delivery, not just housed centrally.
Advisor Adoption & Behavioral Change
- Lead the function's evolution from a generalist support model to a specialized team that drives measurable behavioral change and builds advising capabilities across advisor teams.
- Use our product pilot and launch methodology to serve as the field advocate for new technology, tools, and solutions — including AI-powered capabilities — before and during rollout.
- Define growth gearing ratios (FTE per cohort size) and build the organizational infrastructure to scale onboarding and ongoing enablement as Mercer grows through M&A.
- In partnership with Partner Success, build on-demand support capacity for acquisition integrations so newly joined advisor teams are onboarded rapidly and effectively.
Team Leadership & Organizational Build-Out
- Build and lead a structured Enablement team organized across Wealth Management and Wealth Solutions — ultimately with dedicated Directors and FTE support for each.
- Recruit for skills that match each cohort's complexity, replacing a generalist model with domain-specific expertise that can credibly engage and influence advisors.
- Use team operating rhythms, performance telemetry, and accountability frameworks to measure content effectiveness, field adoption, and client impact.
- Serve as the long-term architect of Mercer University — the 3-year horizon vision for Mercer's internal learning and development infrastructure.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with Relationship Expansion to ensure Enablement content is deployable by field leaders and embedded in advisor meeting cadences.
- Work alongside Segment Delivery to align accreditation and training programs with segment-specific delivery models (Ascend, Regis, Custom Wealth, WealthPath).
- Serve as a business-to-technology bridge — advocating for advisor needs in product design so what's built drives the right field outcomes.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- 10+ years of experience in enablement, learning & development, or field effectiveness roles within wealth management, financial services, or a complex, field-oriented professional services organization.
- Demonstrated success building or scaling centralized enablement functions — not just managing existing L&D programs, but architecting new ones from the ground up.
- Track record of driving measurable advisor or field sales behavioral change, with evidence of adoption outcomes and performance improvement.
- Experience managing and developing teams of content creators, trainers, and program managers, ideally using AI to accelerate their output.
- Familiarity with the complexity of a post-M&A integration environment and the enablement demands it creates.
- Ideally, the candidate will have a CFP and / or previous experience directly serving clients.
- Strategic thinker who can translate business priorities (NRR, retention, 'One Mercer' delivery) into curriculum design and behavioral change programs that strengthen the client experience.
- Strong cross-functional collaborator who builds influence without direct authority across Relationship Expansion, Segment Delivery, Operations, and Technology.
- Data-informed approach — uses telemetry, adoption metrics, and field feedback to iterate and improve content and delivery systems.
- AI-fluent — well-versed in AI tools and able to apply them to accelerate content creation, personalize learning, and scale enablement, while championing responsible adoption across the field.
- Exceptional communicator and executive presence — able to represent Enablement to senior leadership and serve as a credible spokesperson for field needs in the product design process.
- Builder mentality — energized by ambiguity and the opportunity to create structure where none exists.
- Advisor- and client-first orientation — knows advisor adoption drives client outcomes, and designs every program with both the field and the end client in view.
- Collaborative and low-ego — this role requires deep partnership across WO&E and the broader business; success requires earning trust, not asserting authority.
- Comfortable with pace — Mercer is a high-growth, acquisition-driven firm; the Enablement leader must operate in a dynamic environment while maintaining quality and consistency.
