The Vice President, Strategic Media Planning is a senior leader in Tinuiti’s award-winning Strategic Media Planning practice. Reporting to the SVP, Strategic Planning, this role bridges client ambition and cross-channel execution. It combines hands-on strategic leadership on key accounts with enterprise-level capability building, shaping the future of Tinuiti’s media strategy approach..
As VP, you’ll take the helm of transformative planning engagements; merging Tinuiti’s proprietary tools, deep consumer insights, and data-rich ecosystem into media strategies that drive measurable business growth. You’ll be the trusted advisor to CMOs and other senior stakeholders, crafting full-funnel, omnichannel strategies that integrate storytelling and scale.
This role also champions the evolution of Tinuiti’s strategic planning frameworks and go-to-market offerings, helping shape how our teams operate, learn, and lead across a fast-evolving media landscape. What you’ll be doing:
Lead the strategic vision and planning across a portfolio of dynamic client businesses, translating business ambitions into bold, measurable media solutions
Inspire, challenge, and grow a team of 10+ Media Directors and Planners, cultivating a culture of strategic excellence, curiosity, and collaborative innovation.
Collaborate with Client Leads to decode complex business challenges and reframe them into holistic media strategies
Partner with the VP of Communications Planning to ensure strategy seamlessly connects across brand narratives, audiences, and platforms
Align with Specialists across Media Investment, Analytics, and Creative Strategy
Build and refine Tinuiti’s proprietary planning tools and methodologies alongside our Product and Technology teams
Architect compelling strategic narratives and presentations that distill complexity and captivate senior stakeholders
Play a pivotal role in new business and marketing efforts, shaping pitch narratives and helping Tinuiti stand apart in pitches
Cultivate deep relationships with senior client stakeholders, serving as a proactive advisor and challenger to elevate strategic planning
Champion strategic acumen across Tinuiti through cross-functional enablement, and by embedding strategic excellence in our work
Core Competencies:
Expert-level media strategy development, including full funnel, brand and performance, and audience-first planning.
Equally fluent in articulating full-funnel strategy and lower-funnel performance measurement
Experience working with brands who participate in the video upfronts across digital and traditional mediums
Strong business acumen with an ability to connect media strategy to financial and commercial outcomes
Trusted client partner with boardroom-ready communication and storytelling skills
Strong collaboration skills; able to work across departments and stakeholder levels to align on strategic direction
Team leadership including delegation, mentoring, performance management, and people development
Experience managing change and shaping planning practices across large, matrixed organizations
Deep familiarity with planning, research, and measurement tools (e.g., NMI, Commspoint, Pathmatics, MRI Catalyst, GWI, WARC, AI tools, Kantar, etc)
Requirements:
14+ years of strategic planning, media strategy, or brand/communications strategy experience
8+ years experience managing teams of 10+ media professionals
Experience leading cross-functional strategy engagements with direct exposure to C-level stakeholders
Deep knowledge of media and marketing trends across linear, digital, and emerging platforms
Strong command of strategy, insights, and planning tools
Strong written, verbal, and visual presentation skills
Experience supporting new business and thought leadership efforts
Ability to travel to onsite meetings as required
