 Summary

We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Vice President of Sales to lead growth across key specialty markets—driving new business while expanding and strengthening relationships with existing strategic accounts. This leader will partner closely with our Growth Lead to define and execute the commercial strategy for GeneDx, accelerating adoption of our genomic testing solutions across targeted customer segments and care settings.

This is an exciting opportunity to build and scale a specialty sales channel that combines new account acquisition with the deepening of existing partnerships, all while collaborating across the organization to deliver meaningful impact for patients and healthcare partners.

 Job Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Growth Execution

  • Partner with the Growth Lead to design and execute a specialty sales growth strategy focused on expanding GeneDx’s presence within existing accounts and unlocking new opportunities.
  • Drive account expansion by strengthening long-term relationships, identifying unmet needs, and increasing utilization of GeneDx’s genomic solutions.
  • Establish a scalable, repeatable growth playbook tailored to specialty markets that accelerates adoption, deepens engagement, and improves customer retention.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand their evolving needs and deliver tailored solutions that create value for both patients and providers.

Sales Leadership & Team Development

  • Build and develop a high-performing specialty sales team over time, equipping them with the tools, insights, and coaching needed to expand business within existing accounts.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring the team consistently meets or exceeds growth objectives.

Collaboration & Influence

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Product, and Operations to design and deliver educational campaigns, clinical resources, and tailored solutions that support account growth.
  • Work in partnership with other Business VPs to create seamless, coordinated strategies across shared accounts and regions.
  • Provide actionable market insights, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback to inform product strategy and enhance GeneDx’s position in the market.

Customer Engagement & Representation

  • Represent the company at industry meetings, conferences, and customer engagements as a subject matter expert in genomics.
  • Ensure a best-in-class customer experience from initial engagement through ongoing support.
  • Travel up to 60% to cultivate relationships, drive deals, and represent GeneDx in the market.

People Manager

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, science, or related field; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, etc.) preferred.
  • 12 + years of progressive sales leadership experience in healthcare, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or life sciences industries.
  • Experience with sales strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing go-to-market and growth strategies.
  • Proven track record building and leading high-performing sales organizations.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with high emotional intelligence.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing complex projects.
  • Passion for improving patient outcomes and advancing the field of genomic medicine.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for work-related travel.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

Work Environment

  • The role may require occasional travel to client sites, with potential exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM EST, with occasional overtime required during peak periods.

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
  • Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
