The VP of Product Management – Technology will lead a new team of technical product managers focused on the engineering and architecture of the underlying platform that supports all our product lines.   You will be responsible for ensuring investments drive ease of scalability, maintainability and align with technical strategies and capabilities.  A successful candidate in this role will be a technologist with a passion for driving strategic investment, a ‘doer’ and a leader that has proven experience in owning deeply technical capabilities that allow product teams to quickly deliver value to internal and external users powering business at scale. 

 
What you’ll do… 

  • Lead the development and execution of product strategy for technically complex or platform-based products  
  • Bridge the gap between engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Manage technical aspects of product lifecycle, partnering with engineering to ensure products are built with flexibility and scalability  
  • Oversee technical execution of features, including working with engineering leads to prioritize investments  
  • Ensure technical risks are identified early, mitigated and communicated to leadership 
  • Coach and lead a team of technical product managers 
  • Curate strong relationships with stakeholders, partners and customers in support of joint exploration and feedback to ensure underlying technology infrastructure can support current and future business needs 
  • Monitor business, market, and technology trends to inform technology strategy and proactively propose new solutions 
  • Be a strategic partner to the business and help drive operational excellence  
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with engineering and product stakeholders to champion strategically impactful initiatives as well as achieve tactical wins for the business 
  • Lead the development and improvement of technical product management processes, frameworks, and standards 
  • Help determine internal and contract/external resources and skills required for the delivery teams to deliver on the product strategy and roadmap. 

About you… 

  • 10+ years of experience in product management, with a focus on technical products or platforms, and at least 5 years in a senior leadership role 
  • Proven track record of managing and scaling complex technical products in fast-paced environments 
  • Deep understand of the product software lifecycle, from ideation to post launch support 
  • Strong technical background with the ability to bridge the gap between engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders 
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, product design, and technical specifications 
  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills with the ability to inspire and lead diverse teams 
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders 
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions in ambiguous or complex situations 
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, technology, healthcare administration, or similar field 
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of product roadmap and execution tracking tools (i.e., Confluence, Jira, Aha!, ProductBoard, Monday, etc.) 
  • Proven success delivering projects in an agile environment – aligning the model of execution (scrum, kanban, other/custom) with the type of work/project 
  • Prior experience in managing products in a B2B and a B2B2C environment 
  • Proven ability to solve problems and drive projects to completion by identifying needs, raising awareness of risk, and influencing without direct authority 
  • Experience with problem discovery ideation models and documentation (example: event storming, design thinking, value stream mapping, etc.)

In compliance with New York City's Wage Transparency Law, the annual salary [wage] range for NYC-based applicants is: $245,000 - $255,000. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. Progyny offers a total compensation package comprised of base salary, cash bonus, and equity.
