Role Description

As Vice President of People you will be the chief architect and strategic partner responsible for the People function, scaling a high-performance, values-centered culture and building a world-class talent acquisition engine to support the company's aggressive growth.

Your mandate is to ensure that as we scale the organization, every system implemented reinforces a high-performance, values-centered culture that champions excellence, speed and our relentless drive to save teachers time and energy.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for driving towards the following outcomes:

  • Build a World-Class Talent Acquisition Engine:

    • Design, implement, and manage a hiring plan aligned with company growth strategy.

    • Establish strong recruiting processes, training, metrics, and best practices to ensure hiring quality, speed, and diversity.

    • Be responsible for hiring bar-raising employees every month across key functions.

  • Foster a High-Performance, Values-Centered Culture:

    • Partner with leadership to model and drive culture-behaviors.

    • Create, maintain, and embed artifacts, rituals, and narratives that reinforce company values.

    • Establish a culture of continuous feedback, growth, and accountability.

    • Achieve industry-leading Employee Net Promoter Score (eNPS).

  • Establish and Scale Compliant, Values-Aligned Systems & Processes:

    • Iterate on leveling, compensation, and performance management frameworks that scale with the business.

    • Ensure compliance with all relevant labor laws and regulations across multi-state and global operations.

    • Own employee relations, policy, HR operations, and the enablement of effective manager practices.

    • Build and maintain people systems/HRIS, data, and analytics to support scale.

  • Build and Lead a High-Performing People Operations Team:

    • Hire top-tier HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition professionals.

    • Define ambitious goals and metrics for the People team and hold the team accountable.

    • Coach, mentor, and develop the team for long-term enterprise impact.

    • Foster a team culture of business partnership, high velocity, and ownership.

Experience & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring the following experience and qualifications:

  • Ability to Drive to Results: Proven ability to plan backwards from success, obsess over metrics and execution, and execute on the mantra, "that which gets measured gets done."

  • Exceptional Communication: Capable of aligning executives, managers, and employees; ability to influence at all levels.

  • Strong Business Acumen: Understands the business strategy and directly connects People work to business outcomes.

  • Hands-on Leader: Comfortable "doing" as well as leading; thrives in ambiguity and change.

  • Data-Driven Mindset: Uses people analytics and insights to guide strategy and decisions.

  • High Integrity, Values-Led: Ability to build trust and credibility across the organization.

Required Experience
  • Proven experience in scaling People/HR functions in a high-growth, fast-paced environment (Series B or similar).

  • Experience scaling from ~150–300 employees.

  • Prior experience driving Talent Acquisition at scale, performance management systems, compensation frameworks, compliance, and culture initiatives.

  • Experience in the SaaS industry.

  • Demonstrated success building a feedback culture and improving eNPS.

  • Experience moving a company off a PEO (Professional Employer Organization) onto its own systems.

  • Prior experience building advanced people systems (HRIS, ATS, people analytics).

Nice-to-Have Experience
  • Experience in EdTech.
