About Thalamus

As we expand beyond GME into broader physician recruitment, our unique dataset—spanning the full profiles of residency/fellowship applicants and programs—positions us to revolutionize hiring in healthcare through AI/ML and data-driven insights. This furthers our mission to ensure the right doctor ends up at the right hospital to treat the right patients.

About the Role
The Vice President of Finance will lead Thalamus’ financial strategy and operations through its next phase of growth. Reporting to the COO, this leader will oversee strategic planning, forecasting, investor reporting, and financial infrastructure, while partnering cross-functionally to align resources with company priorities. The VP will also provide executive coverage across accounting and compliance, ensuring financial continuity and resiliency. This is a foundational leadership role in building a scalable, disciplined, and insight-driven finance function.

What You Will Achieve

  • Lead strategic financial planning, including long-range forecasts and integrated SaaS modeling. Partner with People and GTM leaders on headcount, pipeline, and revenue scenarios.

  • Own the budgeting and operating plan, aligning spend to strategy and presenting recommendations to the Board.

  • Develop and articulate Thalamus’s investor narrative, synthesizing insights into Board materials and strategic updates.

  • Oversee financial reporting and analytics; prepare dashboards for internal stakeholders and investors.

  • Supervise financial governance: chair monthly Finance Review meetings and own reporting cadence.

  • Lead cash and treasury management, including capital planning and banking relationships.

  • Guide audit, tax, and compliance strategy.

  • Define and enforce revenue recognition policy (ASC 606) and ensure alignment with FP&A.

  • Architect and implement ERP, FP&A, BI, & AI tooling in alignment with scale and automation needs.

  • Lead financial due diligence and post-close integration for M&A.

  • Build and mentor a high-performing finance team.

  • Provide operational coverage for Controller-level responsibilities when needed.

You Should Have

  • Strategic FP&A leadership in a B2B SaaS environment, including forecasting, planning, and Board engagement.

  • Strong accounting fluency and familiarity with ASC 606, GAAP, and audit processes; able to step into Controller-level functions.

  • Track record presenting to Boards and investors, with the ability to translate data into strategic insights.

  • Hands-on SaaS modeling capability (e.g., CAC/LTV, bookings waterfalls, cohort analysis).

  • Experience building and leading finance teams, including hiring and mentoring.

  • Proven success implementing finance systems and infrastructure (ERP, FP&A, BI).

  • Cross-functional collaboration with Product, GTM, and People teams.

  • Comfort managing outsourced accounting functions and transitioning them in-house.

  • A resilience mindset and a player-coach orientation, able to flex across strategic and tactical levels.

  • Familiarity with marketplace models or multi-sided monetization.

  • M&A integration experience.

  • SaaS DSO, cash flow optimization, or treasury management expertise.

  • Exposure to cost modeling for AI/data infrastructure.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in healthcare or physician workforce platforms.
