Reports to: SVP, UX Products & Engineering

Organization Size: 100+ Engineers

Position Summary: Natera is seeking a Vice President of Engineering, UX/Commercial Applications to lead a 100+ person engineering organization responsible for our commercial software platforms. This leader will focus on strengthening execution, raising engineering standards, and advancing AI-enabled product and development capabilities.

Scope includes:

  • Patient and Provider Portals

  • EMR integrations & interoperability

  • Internal service and operational systems

  • Omni-channel communications

  • Billing and revenue platforms

  • AI-powered chat and voice automation


Key ResponsibilitiesEngineering Leadership & Execution
  • Lead and scale a 100+ engineer organization through Directors and Sr. Directors

  • Improve delivery predictability, engineering velocity, and production quality

  • Strengthen planning, estimation, and development processes

  • Raise the bar on accountability and ownership

  • Develop strong engineering leaders and succession depth

Technical Depth & Architectural Rigor
  • Strong background in distributed systems and cloud-native architectures (AWS preferred)

  • Experience building scalable, highly available platforms

  • Deep understanding of modern web stacks (APIs, React, TypeScript, services)

  • Experience leading platform modernization and reliability improvements

  • Comfortable engaging deeply in architecture reviews and technical decisions

AI-Enabled Product & Development

AI in the Product

  • Expand the use of Generative AI across patient and provider workflows

  • Scale AI-powered automation (chat/voice, document processing, operational workflows)

  • Ensure AI solutions are secure, reliable, and production-ready

AI in Engineering

  • Drive thoughtful adoption of AI-assisted development tools

  • Improve SDLC efficiency through automation and modern tooling

  • Build engineering practices that effectively leverage AI

Candidate Profile
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience

  • 6+ years leading large engineering organizations (50-150+ engineers)

  • Strong technical depth in cloud-native distributed systems (AWS preferred)

  • Experience deploying AI/ML or GenAI solutions in production environments

  • Track record of improving execution, quality, and engineering effectiveness

  • Experienced leading in fast-paced, growth environments

The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
