The Vice President, Development will be a transformative leader responsible for designing, executing, and scaling Echoing Green's fundraising strategy. This role will drive growth across individual, institutional, and corporate giving raising $20M annually. The successful candidate will expand and diversify Echoing Green's pipeline, foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization, and empower our Development team to lead with creativity and bold innovation. - As a key member of the Executive Team, partner closely with the CEO and the President to set ambitious revenue goals and align fundraising priorities with Echoing Green’s long-term vision
- Collaborate with senior leaders and the Board of Directors to foster a culture of philanthropy across the organization, ensuring all teams feel ownership of development outcomes
- Represent Echoing Green externally with presence and credibility, serving as a visible ambassador to our organizational champions, funders, institutional and corporate partners, and all key stakeholders
- Define and implement a comprehensive development strategy that aligns with the strategic plan’s priorities and raising $20M+ annually
- Personally close six- and seven-figure gifts from a variety of funding streams, including: individual, corporate, and institutional donors
- Build and steward a diverse funding pipeline by developing a robust individual giving program, engaging alumni, and deepening key donor relationships into increased giving
- Evaluate the ROI of fundraising activities, ensuring resources are directed toward high-yield strategies and measurable results
- Lead, mentor, and inspire the Development team by instilling a proactive, strategic fundraising lens and empowering staff to take ownership of donor relationships and revenue outcomes
- Foster a culture of creativity, resilience, and accountability where the team consistently meets and exceeds ambitious goals
- Strengthen collaboration and efficiency by breaking down silos and building cross-functional systems and practices
- Support professional growth by identifying development opportunities, nurturing talent, and thoughtfully evolving team capacity with equity and care
- Serve as a trusted partner to the CEO, maximizing her impact and ensuring her relationships are fully leveraged
- Act as a key touch point for the Board, supporting their engagement and partnering with the CEO to maximize members’ giving and networks
- Engage top funders and high-level stakeholders with presence, confidence, and creativity, positioning Echoing Green as a premier social impact investment
- Strengthen stewardship practices to ensure donors and partners feel valued and connected to Echoing Green’s mission and work
You will report to the President.
You will supervise the Directors of Individual Giving, Institutional Giving, Donor Engagement, and Strategic Insights & Development Operations, and an overall team of 5.
You will collaborate closely with members of the executive team, the Board of Directors, and the CEO.
Required Skills and ExperienceExperience:- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in fundraising, development, or revenue-generating leadership roles within social impact, philanthropy, or adjacent sectors
- Demonstrated track record of raising $10M–$30M annually, including personally closing six- and seven-figure gifts
- Strategic Fundraising Leadership: Ability to set and deliver on ambitious revenue goals, evaluate ROI of fundraising activities, and translate vision into actionable fundraising plans
- Team Empowerment: Demonstrated ability to inspire, mentor, and equip a development team to confidently lead pitches, foster creativity, and take ownership of revenue outcomes
- Stakeholder Engagement: Executive presence and interpersonal skills to partner effectively with the CEO, President, Board, and top-level donors and funders
- Pipeline Development: Strong prospecting and cultivation skills, with an entrepreneurial, “hunter” mindset to expand and diversify revenue streams
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience breaking down silos and aligning fundraising strategies with organizational priorities
- Equity & Values Alignment: Deep commitment to equity and social justice, positioning fundraising as a values-driven partnership that shifts power and resources
- Communication: Exceptional written and verbal skills, able to craft compelling cases for support and inspire diverse audiences
