The UX/UI Developer will design and develop user interfaces for data-heavy applications, gather user requirements, create prototypes, and implement dashboards while ensuring accessibility and usability for USAF stakeholders.
About the Organization
Now is a great time to join Redhorse Corporation. We are a solution-driven company delivering data insights and technology solutions to customers with missions critical to U.S. national interests. We’re looking for thoughtful, skilled professionals who thrive as trusted partners building technology-agnostic solutions and want to apply their talents supporting customers with difficult and important mission sets.
About the Role
Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a UX/UI Developer to support Condition-Based Maintenance Plus (CBM+) initiatives for the United States Air Force (USAF) Rapid Sustainment Office (RSO). While our data scientists build powerful AI/ML models to predict aircraft failures, you will be responsible for the "human-side" of the solution—designing and building the interfaces that turn complex logistics data into actionable insights. Your work will empower USAF stakeholders with intuitive decision-making tools, directly impacting the readiness and efficiency of our nation's aircraft fleet. If you are passionate about human-centered design and want to see your work have a real-world impact on national security, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of user interfaces that are visually compelling, intuitive, and aligned with USAF mission objectives.
- Gather and evaluate user requirements through research, usability testing, and direct stakeholder engagement with maintenance and logistics personnel.
- Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, and high-fidelity prototypes to effectively communicate design concepts before development.
- Develop and maintain a centralized design system to ensure consistency and scalability across multiple RSO applications and dashboards.
- Implement production-ready dashboards and visualizations using Qlik Sense and Power BI.
- Partner closely with data scientists and engineering teams to ensure seamless implementation of designs and technical feasibility of models.
- Continuously iterate on designs based on user feedback, data analytics, and emerging UX trends.
- Advocate for accessibility (Section 508), usability, and inclusive design principles across all RSO products.
- Collaborate within an Agile environment, managing tasks through JIRA and Confluence.
Required Experience/Clearance
- US citizen with a Secret US government clearance. Applicants who are not US Citizens and who do not have a current active Secret security clearance will not be considered for this role.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field or proven equivalent professional experience in Design or Human-Computer Interaction.
- 4 years of experience in UX/UI development, specifically building data-heavy applications or dashboards.
- Proven proficiency in dashboard development tools, specifically Qlik Sense and Power BI.
- Demonstrated experience with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch).
- Experience working with office productivity software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain design decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must be a motivated self-starter capable of executing complex design tasks without constant supervision.
- Ability to travel, as needed, to meet with government customers and stakeholders.
Desired Experience
- Experience working within DoD data environments such as Advana or DON Jupiter.
- Familiarity with Python or R-Studio to better collaborate with data science teams.
- Exposure to Databricks or other cloud-based data platforms.
- Experience with AI Agent Builder tools (e.g., Gemini, Copilot) to enhance user interactions.
- Understanding of predictive maintenance or logistics concepts in a military or industrial context.
- Knowledge of Service Now and its integration into enterprise workflows.
