The Opportunity:
TrueCar is seeking an exceptional UX Designer to join our team. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with Product/UX Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to support the development of key TrueCar products and contribute to solving meaningful user experience challenges across platforms, with a focus on mobile-first and responsive web design. The position requires a strong eye for visual design and the ability to translate your ideas into thoughtful, user-centered solutions that balance aesthetics with usability, business goals, and technical constraints. Through wireframes, user flows, hi-fi mockups, prototypes, and usability testing, you’ll help the team shape ideas, test assumptions, and align on design decisions.
How you will contribute to TrueCar’s success:
- Support Product Leads, Engineers, and other stakeholders to develop compelling user experiences from concept to delivery
- Take product requirements and efficiently turn them into user-centered design solutions, ensuring alignment with project goals and timelines
- Shape broad, conceptual ideas and transform them into meaningful solutions
- Design flows and experiences that are overall familiar, flexible, and functional for users
- Leverage internal data, user insights, and competitive research to inform design decisions—grounding solutions in evidence, best practices, and user mental models
- Give and solicit feedback from other designers, stakeholders, and users to continually raise the quality of your designs – you excel at riffing on ideas with your teammates
- Keep current with design trends, Figma capabilities, and new technologies to enhance both craft and efficiency
Your Expertise:
- Possess a deep understanding of desktop & mobile design, including responsive and adaptive techniques
- Proven professional UX experience shipping consumer-facing products
- Self-motivation and passion for solving complex problems (bonus points for loving cars)
- The ability to internalize and care about the company strategy and vision, not just how things look
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills -- you can defend and articulate your design decisions
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in agile, cross-functional teams—designing iteratively and contributing throughout sprint cycles
- Offer a strong portfolio of your original work featuring examples of visual and interaction design work
- Expert-level Figma experience and advanced knowledge of the Adobe suite
- Ability to travel occasionally by airplane or car, including overnight trips
- Experience with research tools, such as UserTesting.com, Lyssna, Mouseflow, FullStory, etc.
- Experience and/or knowledge with code (HTML, CSS, JS) and front-end frameworks (React, Bootstrap, etc.)
Base salary range: $96,000 - $120,000
