Summary
GeneDx is seeking a User Experience Researcher to join our growing Customer Experience & Product team. In this role, you will lead end-to-end research initiatives across multiple channels and product experiences—digital and print—that support patients, healthcare providers, and internal teams. Your work will play a critical role in shaping the design of our provider and patient portals, websites, collection kits, test reports, marketing collateral, and internal tools.
This role is for someone who is curious, empathetic, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple research projects independently from planning through delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead and execute end-to-end UX research projects: Independently plan, design, and run research studies across digital and physical touchpoints, including portals, websites, kits, printed collateral, and internal tools.
- Present research findings as an expert storyteller: Create clear, engaging narratives that translate complex findings into actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Use a broad range of research methodologies: Conduct usability tests, surveys, card sorts, tree tests, interviews, intercepts, competitive analyses, and contextual inquiries to uncover actionable insights.
- Synthesize insights across multiple data sources: Integrate UX research findings with internal data, analytics, market research, and SEO insights to deliver a cohesive understanding of user needs and behaviors.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with key partners: Work closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Business Stakeholders to align research with product goals and testing strategies.
- Manage and nurture user research communities: Recruit and engage with internal panels of patients and providers. Collaborate with the GeneDx Advisory Board to gather clinical expertise and real-world feedback.
- Identify research opportunities proactively: Stay informed about product roadmaps and upcoming initiatives. Recommend and execute research that addresses gaps in knowledge or user experience.
Education, Experience, and Skills
- 3-5 years of UX Research experience, ideally in healthcare, healthtech, life sciences, or another regulated industry.
- Proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Experience with research tools like UserTesting, Qualtrics, or similar platforms.
- Experience evaluating UX prototypes for usability
- Proven ability to independently manage and execute research projects end-to-end.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for telling stories with data, research, and visuals.
- Experience working in cross-functional environments, especially with product, design, commercial, and executive teams.
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE
- Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
- Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
- Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis.
