Definition:

Coordinates the City of Longmont University (CLU) training program for employees in the organization. Creates a training calendar, handles sign-in processes, documents training attended, and all logistics related to CLU. Leads teams of staff members who volunteer to review CLU offerings and develop new classes from inception to delivery.  Writes and adapts online training materials to include user guides, videos, self-paced training tutorials, cheat sheets, and FAQ’s. Online documentation may be supplemented by the creation of hardcopy documents in the form of flyers, posters, and other materials upon request.

Principal Duties:

  • Collaborates with department leaders, HR, and subject matter experts to assess skill gaps and training needs across the organization.
  • In conjunction with training team volunteers, identifies resources and develops new courses to meet evolving organizational needs.
  • Leads teams of staff volunteers in the development, review, and delivery of course offerings.
  • Coordinates the CLU training program for City employees, including planning, scheduling, and maintaining training records.
  • Creates and maintains the annual training calendar and manages all associated logistics (e.g., locations, materials, rosters).
  • Supports citywide training initiatives, including the rollout of multi-department software systems such as Salesforce, by developing and coordinating related training programs.
  • Develops and delivers in-person and online training related to enterprise software, computer systems, and associated applications.
  • Creates user-focused training materials and documentation for Citywide systems, including self-paced tutorials, videos, quick reference guides, and FAQs.
  • Maintains the Connect and Learn SharePoint site, including the Resources tab, ensuring up-to-date access to training materials.
  • Facilitates team-building workshops, DiSC assessments, and workgroup sessions upon request to support team effectiveness and communication.
  • Promotes a culture of learning by marketing training opportunities through multiple internal channels (intranet, email, posters, Employee Connection).
  • Writes, publishes, and maintains professional-quality user documentation to support training efforts.
  • Translates complex information into clear and accessible formats tailored to varying levels of technical and organizational knowledge.
  • Ensures all documentation and materials align with the City's branding and accessibility standards.
  • Evaluates training effectiveness through participant feedback, usage analytics, and outcome assessments.
  • Recommends improvements to enhance learning experiences and training outcomes.

Working Environment:

Work is performed in standard office environment.  Frequent use of technical equipment including personal computer and telephone..  Ability to respond to time constraints; perform under administrative stress factors which may include competing needs, difficult adversarial contacts, lifting & carrying 15 -20 lbs, mobility through diverse work environments and frequent exposure to stress associated complex tasks.  May be required to work long or non-traditional hours to fulfill organizational needs, projects, or special circumstances.  Exposure to frequent interruptions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor Degree or related experience and at least 3 years of experience in adult, technical education or training. Demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Office suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint). Experience developing and maintaining a variety of technical, user, and process documentation for software. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
