Job Summary

Red 6 is seeking a Test Manager, Systems Integration & Test to lead test strategy, test execution, hardware validation, software verification, and team development within the SEIT organization. This individual will have the aptitude, ambition, attitude, and professional experience to lead a multidisciplinary test team supporting the development, integration, verification, validation, and fielding of Red 6’s ATARS product.

As a Test Manager at Red 6, you will lead the design, implementation, and execution of test plans for computer hardware, optical systems, embedded software, system interfaces, and integrated ATARS capabilities. You will work closely with design engineers, software engineers, manufacturing engineers, systems engineers, quality, program leadership, suppliers, and vendors to ensure Red 6 products meet specified requirements.

This role is both managerial and hands-on. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading people through test campaigns while also working directly with test equipment, lab environments, test fixtures, and debugging tools. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary test team within SEIT, including hardware test engineers, software test engineers, and technicians.

  • Own and mature Red 6’s test strategy across integration, qualification, acceptance, verification, validation, manufacturing, and field test activities.

  • Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, procedures, test cases, verification artifacts, and reports for Red 6 ATARS products and integrated systems.

  • Translate product requirements, system requirements, and customer needs into testable verification methods and objective evidence.

  • Lead hardware, software, and integrated system testing from board level through system level, including computer hardware, optical systems, embedded systems, software applications, and related equipment.

  • Develop and maintain test environments, tools, infrastructure, and test assets required to support repeatable and scalable testing.

  • Partner cross-functionally with hardware, software, systems, mechanical, electrical, optical, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure Red 6 ATARS products are testable and ready for verification.

  • Lead anomaly identification, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, corrective action, retest planning, and closure for complex hardware, software, and system-level issues.

  • Manage test execution, schedules, priorities, resources, supplier dependencies, and cross-program test activities to support engineering, manufacturing, program, and customer needs.

  • Track, analyze, and communicate test results, metrics, risks, and readiness to engineering, product, program, and executive leadership.

  • Support technical reviews, field activities, suppliers, vendors, and test labs as needed to execute Red 6 test campaigns, including up to 10% travel.

Experience, Skills, and Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a STEM field such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline.

  • 8+ years of experience in test engineering, systems integration and test, verification and validation, embedded systems test, or a closely related engineering discipline.

  • 3+ years of experience leading people, including mentoring, providing technical direction, work prioritization, hiring support, performance feedback, or formal management responsibility.

  • Demonstrated experience developing test plans, test procedures, test cases, verification methods, pass/fail criteria, and test reports.

  • Experience testing systems from board, component, or subsystem level through integrated system-level test, including functional, qualification, acceptance, and requirements-based testing.

  • Hands-on experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing, software-in-the-loop testing, system integration labs, automated testing, manual testing, test equipment, test fixtures, lab instrumentation, debugging tools, and failure-analysis methods.

  • Experience supporting hardware product validation, including functional verification, integration readiness, acceptance testing, and manufacturing testing.

  • Familiarity with software test methodologies and tools such as Pytest, TestComplete, Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, JIRA, Jenkins, GitLab, TestRail, Xray, or similar tools.

  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python, C++, MATLAB, Bash, or similar languages in support of test automation, data analysis, HIL/SIL development, or test tool development.

  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues involving hardware, software, firmware, networks, sensors, optics, displays, aircraft interfaces, environmental conditions, or manufacturing processes.

  • Experience reviewing system requirements and translating those requirements into testable verification activities while building, improving, or managing test processes, test metrics, test tools, test environments, and test labs.

  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to clearly report test status, technical risks, schedule impacts, failure-analysis results, and recommended actions to stakeholders.

  • Qualified candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance. This requires U.S. citizenship.

Preferred / Additional Skills

  • Previous work in defense, aerospace, aviation, avionics, mission systems, AR/VR, or synthetic training environments.

  • Experience with augmented reality, virtual reality, computer vision, 6 DoF tracking technologies, wearable displays, optical systems, or pilot-facing systems.

  • Experience with custom electronics, PCBAs, embedded systems, sensors, optics, display systems, or other mission-critical hardware/software systems.

  • Experience with CI/CD testing frameworks, automated regression testing, test fixtures, and test tools for verification, validation, acceptance testing, or manufacturing support.
