Debug and resolve complex hardware/software issues for manufacturing test stations. Lead commissioning and release-to-manufacturing of opto-electrical test stations, improve test uptime, provide documentation and support to contract manufacturers and vendors, coordinate equipment RFQs/RMAs, and use AI tools for data analysis.
We are looking for an engineer to debug and solve complex hardware and software problems for Nokia internal product testers. We are looking for a skilled, self-motivated, well-rounded engineer to work in our fast-paced manufacturing environment supporting Nokia’s highly innovative integrated products. This position has an emphasis on the continuous improvement of our optical communication products and testing, while maintaining Nokia’s high degree of reliability, recognized by our customers.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions/Responsibilities
- Attention to detail and willingness to produce detailed documentation
- Be able to work in a collaborative, team environment
- Need to be able to interface with all levels of people from technicians to Sr Directors in a professional manner
- Lead the commissioning and release-to-manufacturing of complex opto-electrical test stations
- Provide support to operations process engineering team and improve test system uptime to support manufacturing
- Provide detailed documentation and continuous support for Contract Manufacturers that operate Nokia test facilities and produce test facility components
- Support test station construction team with guidance and documentation to drive on-time delivery of test capability, including BOMs, electrical and optical Schematics, and mechanical drawings
- Coordinate with vendors on RMA and RFQ of commercially available test equipment
- Utilize AI for data analysis and tool development
Minimum qualifications:
- BS Degree in science or engineering (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics etc.)
- 2+ years of experience working in manufacturing environments
- Candidate should have a working knowledge of analog and digital electronics and be able to review electrical schematics and design documents
- Understand basic Statistics
- Familiarity with SQL and statistical processing software (JMP/JSL, Minitab, SAS)
- Experience coding in object orientated language (C++, Java, C#, VB.NET, etc). Nokia is using VB.NET software to control custom and commercial test and measurement equipment using USB, GPIB, TCP/IP, and SPI interfaces. Nokia's hardware communicates using COM and TCP/IP with embedded software / firmware.
- Experience with:
- Optical test and measurement equipment: optical attenuators, switches, polarization controllers, optical spectrum analyzers
- Electrical test and measurement equipment: digital multimeters, oscilloscopes
Preferred qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience working in manufacturing environments
- 2+ years of experience with optical telecommunications industry terminology, test methodologies, and equipment
- Electrical schematic/circuit troubleshooting, circuit design, and PCBA layout experience
- Mechanical aptitude
