About the RoleAs a Test Engineer II at Sierra Space, you will utilize your knowledge and experience to contribute to the testing and validation of aerospace systems and components. Working under general supervision, you will participate in the planning, execution, and documentation of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities. This role requires strong knowledge of engineering principles and the ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams to solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.
In this role, you will participate in the planning, conducting, and documenting of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for aerospace systems and components, ensuring compliance with system requirements. You will apply your strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices to support testing activities and solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity. Working effectively in multi-disciplinary design and development teams, you will follow established procedures and guidelines under general supervision. You will contribute to requirements management, system design, and systems integration efforts, ensuring effective system performance and reliability. Additionally, you will read and interpret schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and apply logical troubleshooting techniques to resolve testing issues. You will develop and execute complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports, demonstrating compliance with system requirements. Utilizing various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies, you will support validation efforts and ensure the quality of aerospace systems and components. You will also participate in the generation and disposition of product non-conformances, adhering to Product and Quality Assurance principles. Preparing and documenting technical data, reports, and analyses to support engineering initiatives and project decision-making will be a key responsibility. Furthermore, you will communicate technical concepts and information clearly, both verbally and in writing, to team members and senior engineers.About You

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Participate in the planning, conducting, and documenting of Verification and Validation (V&V) activities for aerospace systems and components, ensuring compliance with system requirements. 

  • When executing Test Procedures on Vehicle there is need for shift work, multiple weeks working hand in hand with the technicians to conduct test operations. Demanding schedule and flexibility.

  • Apply a strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices to support testing activities and solve technical problems of moderate scope and complexity.  

  • Work effectively in multi-disciplinary design and development teams, and follow established procedures and guidelines under general supervision.  

  • Contribute to requirements management, system design, and systems integration efforts, ensuring effective system performance and reliability.  

  • Read and interpret schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and apply logical troubleshooting techniques to resolve testing issues.  

  • Develop and execute complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports, demonstrating compliance with system requirements.  

  • Utilize various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies to support validation efforts and ensure the quality of aerospace systems and components. 

  • Participate in the generation and disposition of product non-conformances, adhering to Product and Quality Assurance principles.  

  • Prepare and document technical data, reports, and analyses to support engineering initiatives and project decision-making will be a key responsibility.  

  • Communicate technical concepts and information clearly, both verbally and in writing, to team members and senior engineers. 

  

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree). 

  • Typically 2+ years of related experience. 

  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices. 

  • Working knowledge of Product and Quality Assurance principles and experience with generation and disposition of product non-conformances. 

  • Ability to read/interpret schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical troubleshooting techniques. 

  • Basic experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies. 

  • Exposure to and execution of complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports in order to demonstrate compliance with system requirements 

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Proficiency with basic engineering software tools and applications related to testing and validation. 

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities effectively. 

  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn and apply new concepts and methodologies in test engineering. 

  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development in aerospace engineering. 

  • Good teamwork and collaboration skills to work effectively within cross-functional teams. 

  • Strong communication skills to clearly and effectively convey basic technical information to diverse audiences. 

  • Hands on experience with low voltage electrical systems (PLCs, piezoelectric sensors, relays, power management controllers (Remote Power Controllers) 

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to contribute to routine technical solutions. 

  • Experience scripting for physical electro/mechanical testing – Python, JAVA, In-Control.

  • Experience using software version management software (GIT, etc).



Compensation:

Pay Range:

$91,158.00 - $125,364.00

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.
