For our annual Fintech 50, which is in its 11th year and regarded as the industry’s most prestigious awards list, we aim to identify the most innovative private fintech companies with a significant U.S. presence. The list is broken into eight categories, and we're looking for a reporter to manage one or two of those--likely to include personal finance or payments, which tend to be highly competitive categories with many qualified applicants.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on companies by evaluating their application materials, which include everything from written descriptions to revenue and profit metrics.
  • Interview C-suite leaders.
  • Write sharp, compelling and concise bios that highlight unique aspects of each company.
  • Make recommendations on which companies should make the Fintech 50 and participate in a decision meeting with Forbes staff.
  • Fact-check the bios.
  • Collect high-resolution headshots from some of the candidates.
  • Generate story ideas to report, write and publish alongside the completed list.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Comfort contacting sources, many of whom are founders, CEOs and powerful people in business.
  • Creative thinking and/or brainstorming abilities are a must.
  • An ability to meet consistent deadlines.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills.
  • Attention to detail in fact-checking.
  • Flexibility and an interest to pitch in where needed.

The hourly rate for this role is $24.00 - $30.00

Forbes has estimated the compensation range set forth above in good faith.  The compensation range is what we believe we will offer, and ultimately pay, a successful candidate.  In determining this range, we consider the experience, level of education (if applicable to the role), knowledge, skills, and abilities required to be had by a successful candidate as well as the budget and the company’s pay rates, generally. This said, we may have to make changes to our compensation estimates and job descriptions from time to time and we expressly reserve the right to do so.  Should we make any such changes, this advertisement will be revised to reflect such revisions.  We encourage you to occasionally re-visit this advertisement to ensure that you are abreast of any changes.  Thank you for your interest in joining Forbes!
