About Sailor Health

Sailor Health is a mission-driven mental health practice dedicated to improving the mental health and well-being of the senior population. We are seeking a physician to join our team and provide high-quality, compassionate care.

As a remote company, Sailor offers unparalleled flexibility and work-life balance for our therapists. We’re growing a team of exceptional medical professionals who want to make a meaningful impact on the lives of older adults – while enjoying flexible scheduling, admin-free work, and a supportive clinical culture.

Why Join Sailor Health?

At Sailor Health, we believe that caring for our clinicians is just as important as caring for our clients. We have a dedicated clinician support team alongside robust clinical infrastructure, peer community, and tech-enabled tools so you can focus fully on providing great care.

The Role

As a Telehealth Physician, you’ll be the clinical backbone of our patient-advocacy model. You’ll perform focused intakes and evaluations that provide patients with access to our advocacy services, partnering closely with RN Healthcare Advocates, therapists, and care coordinators to guide older adults through complex medical and behavioral health journeys.

  • Type & Schedule: 1099 contractor, minimum 15 hours/week with path to W-2 full-time for interested clinicians.

  • Compensation: $120–$150 per hour (based on experience, licensure breadth, and scope). We are upfront about pay from the first conversation.

  • Licensing: active IMLC Compact license (in good standing) required. TX and/or FL licensure strongly preferred but not required.

What We Offer
  • No more admin work: Our Care Coordination team handles all admin so you can focus solely on providing the best care.

  • Steady and fast referrals: We’ll fill up your case load very quickly.

  • Ongoing growth: Access regular clinical consultation, peer case reviews, and professional development resources tailored to geriatric care; you’ll continually grow as a clinician and leader.

  • Flexible scheduling: Set your own hours and control your schedule, starting at just 15 per week.

  • AI-powered documentation: A smart scribe streamlines your notes and cuts down the time you spend doing documentation.

  • Build relationships with older adults who cherish therapy: Our clients value deeply the relationship with their therapists, and therapy is one of their most meaningful interactions all week.

  • Supportive leadership: Ongoing access to a Clinical Director and peer case consultation; our team gets back to you within the hour for any questions you might have.

  • Community: Connect with a vibrant, dedicated team of geriatric-focused therapists through team events.

Responsibilities
  • Provide telehealth services: provide high-quality, evidence-based care to older adults via telehealth.

  • Clinical intakes & evaluations: Telehealth H&P, risk/capacity, assess comorbidities, medication and diagnostic assessments tailored to Medicare patients.

  • Medication management & consults: Prescribe, adjust, and collaborate with therapists; offer asynchronous chart reviews/second opinions.

  • Care team collaboration: Join virtual case rounds with RN Advocates and care coordinators; address SDOH barriers and help de-escalate emerging issues.

  • Geriatric-informed practice: Use geriatric assessment tools to inform treatment plans and referrals.

  • Documentation: Complete timely, high-quality notes—supported by our AI-powered scribe and streamlined workflows.

  • Quality & integration: Contribute to Behavioral Health Integration (BHI) and help refine protocols that improve outcomes and reduce avoidable ER use.

Qualifications
  • MD or DO; residency in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, or Palliative Care.

  • Active IMLC Compact license (in good standing); TX and/or FL licenses highly valued; open to adding additional IMLC states.

  • 3+ years post-residency preferred; strong experience with older adults is a plus.

  • Ability to support the Sailor Health team on a contract, part-time, or full-time basis (at least 15 hours per week)

  • Comfortable practicing via telehealth and collaborating across fully remote teams.

  • Tech-savvy; quick to learn EHRs and communication tools.

  • Clear, empathetic communicator with a track record of tenure and follow-through in prior roles.

Our values
  1. Lead with compassion

  2. We’re all leaders

  3. Passion for older adults

  4. We work and win together
