Location: Hybrid (Remote and In-person where needed)
Position Summary
The Technology Officer will provide specialized, hands-on technical guidance to startups during the incubation phase of the Energy Innovation Lab program. They will support early-stage energy entrepreneurs in building, testing, and iterating their solutions through one-on-one mentorship, sprint participation, and lab facilitation. Working closely with university partners and technical advisors, the Officer ensures that startups' MVPs meet engineering and market standards and are technically validated ahead of the acceleration phase.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Mentorship and Product Guidance
Provide one-on-one support to all participating startups to guide product architecture, prototyping, and technical decision-making.
Coach founders on system integration, data collection, debugging, and iterations of MVPs.
Help teams identify appropriate technologies based on their energy solutions.
2. Sprint Participation and Feedback
Attend all relevant sprints focused on product and technical development.
Review and provide structured feedback on deliverables submitted by startups.
Support the program team in evaluating startup progress during and after each sprint.
3. Lab Access & Testing Coordination
Assist startups in planning and executing testing procedures during the “Product Development” and “Testing & Feedback” sprints.
Support with the documentation of the test results and provide technical interpretation to improve MVP iterations.
4. Training and Workshops
Advise where needed on any adjustments to the program content and as observed to the startups needs and challenges.
5. Evaluation and Demo Readiness
Participate in startup evaluation during the internal selection process for the incubation and acceleration phase.
Provide technical input on each team’s readiness to scale and pitch.
Support startups in preparing technical components for Demo Day presentations.
Deliverables
Technical evaluation notes and feasibility input for each startup during MVP development.
Sprint-based feedback notes and mentorship logs.
Final technical readiness report per startup ahead of selection for the acceleration phase.
Contribution to Demo Day support and technical validation presentation coaching.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in technical product development or clean energy systems.
- At least 5 years of experience mentoring or advising startups in prototyping, MVP development, or testing.
- Prior work experience in Lebanon’s entrepreneurship or clean energy ecosystem preferred.
