Role Title: Technical Support Specialist
Role Function: Sales - Brenntag Specialties/Lubricants & Performance Fluids
Location: US/Remote
Position Summary:
A technologist fulfills a key technical role at Brenntag’s customer interface. This involves understanding and delivering against customer product needs through the application of Crankcase, Driveline & Fuels additive packages/components and base oils. The Lubricant & Performance Fluids group provides commercial and technical support to our target lubricant-blending customer by liaising with suppliers to help enhance the value proposition of their products in the marketplace. Other key activities range from providing specific technical or scientific expertise to Account Managers and collaborate with the rest of the global technical team to contribute to the development of industries or product portfolio assigned which will ultimately help achieve the team’s sales performance targets.
The role requires significant collaboration with Customers, Suppliers, Sales & Marketing, and other technical colleagues in other regions.
Key Outputs: What we can expect from you
- Provide technical support including product recommendations, product-based value propositions and general technical advice to customers in US and Canada
- Liaise with suppliers’ technical contacts to understand application specifics of portfolio and gain up-to-date information on performance data
- Work closely with Sales and Marketing colleagues to identify new business opportunities
- Contribute to organizational learning through information sharing and collaboration with Sales & Marketing, Suppliers, and the rest of the global technical colleagues
- Interact with suppliers to form communications strategy for Regulatory updates
- Develop technical brochures for presentations to customers
- Maintain product documentation and formulations library to support performance claims on customer products
- Maintain several in-house inventories of materials for sampling purposes to customers in the US and Canada
- Attend industry conferences and technical meetings
- Any additional responsibilities as assigned

A successful candidate is likely to have:
- Ability to understand needs, manage expectations, and deliver on commitments whilst building relationships at the customer interface
- Strong interpersonal, networking and communication skills with an ability to develop personal relationships with customers, suppliers, and colleagues plus work effectively in teams
- Excellent technical competencies with a strong science background (e.g. in chemistry or engineering)
- Knowledge of lubricant industry, lubricant formulation or technology development activities would be advantageous
- Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to efficiently balance priorities and make independent and timely decisions
- Work well on cross-functional teams, excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
- Strong commitment to safety and quality values
