We’re hiring a Technical Support Specialist to support our Corporate HQ in Columbia, MO and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. The Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for providing 7x24x365 technical support of EquipmentShare’s heavy equipment and tooling rental fleet. This is an inaugural position and will be instrumental in the creation and launch of the newly formed Technical Support team. This role is fully remote. 

Salary range: $85k-$121k. Factors including past experience and location may affect final compensation rate. 

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide remote technical support (via phone, Slack, or other online applications) for EquipmentShare assets on a 24x7x365 basis. On-call duty includes evenings and weekends as needed after the team is fully operational.
  • Compile and utilize data gathered from Field Service Technicians, diagnostic tools, schematics, and equipment manuals to resolve complex technical issues and bring assets back to a fully operational state. 
  • Communicate and partner with EquipmentShare product teams and OEMs on problems/issues found in the field.
  • Subject matter expert that works with OEMs to provide root cause analysis on complex technical issues. 
  • Provide on-site support to Service Technicians and customers as required (minimal). 
  • Contribute to the EquipmentShare knowledge base. 
  • Mentor and train newly hired and advancing Technical Support Specialists.
  • Directly support the creation of the foundational process and procedure for the team.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with EquipmentShare’s vision, mission, and values.
  • Establish and maintain professional working relationships with internal departments and rental/retail markets across the organization.
  • Contribute to the team KPIs to ensure performance expectations are met. 
  • Represent the department effectively & professionally as required, both internally as well as to OEM vendors and end customers.

Skills & Qualifications 
  • A passion for helping others and a willingness to go the extra mile in providing nothing less than exceptional service and a positive customer experience.
  • Proven subject matter expert on the operation, maintenance, and diagnostics/repair of heavy equipment to include aerial work platforms, telehandlers, excavators, loaders, bulldozers, tractors, generators, pumps, and HVAC. 
  • Specialty skills in two or more of the following areas: engine/powertrain, hydraulic/hydrostat, electrical/electronics, and other mechanical/structural aspects of heavy equipment.  
  • Strong working knowledge of general safety practices and relevant OSHA regulations to be observed while maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and leverage equipment manuals and system schematics to remotely troubleshoot and diagnose issues. 
  • Must be able to clearly communicate and document proposed actions plans to resolve equipment issues. 
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong time management and communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of G-Suite, including Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, and Drive.
  • Ability to proofread and edit written content.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to quickly identify process break-downs.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change in a positive manner.
  • Ability to travel on an as-needed basis (minimal).
  • Self-starter and highly motivated with a strong, positive work ethic that contributes to the vision of the department and the company as a whole.
  • Must possess a professional yet enthusiastic and friendly demeanor.
Education and Experience
  • Graduate of a technical trade school or possess a certificate/degree in a related technical field, preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years of technical support and/or service technician experience in the heavy equipment, truck, or diesel engine industries.
  • Combination of equivalent education, experience, and industry certifications.
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time
