Summary:

The Technical Manager, Cybersecurity Engineering is a leadership position responsible for shaping and executing MARA’s information security strategy. Reporting to the Head of Cyber Security, Threat Intelligence, & Investigations, this role combines strategic vision with strong technical expertise to deliver a world-class security program. 

This role is ideal for a highly technical security engineer who is ready to step into a leadership path. Initially, the Technical Manager will act as a hands-on individual contributor, providing technical expertise, overseeing a managed services provider (MSP), and directly driving security initiatives. Over time, this role will grow into building and leading a team, scaling our security engineering function to meet MARA’s expanding needs.

We are looking for someone with deep, practical experience in cybersecurity engineering, especially in cloud security (AWS), DevSecOps, application security, and secure SDLC. Traditional management experience is not required; what matters most is technical excellence, initiative, and the ability to grow into a leadership role.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  1. Technical Leadership & Execution
  • Help define and execute enterprise-wide cybersecurity strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Support the risk management program and ensure compliance and audit readiness
  • Drive security awareness and training initiatives across the organization 
  • Provide cybersecurity due diligence for M&A activities
  1. Security Architecture & Engineering 
  • Act as a hands-on security engineer, driving initiatives across AWS, DevSecOps, and application security.
  • Design and implement cloud security architecture and controls 
  • Implement and optimize security tools, monitoring, and vulnerability management.
  • Partner with engineering to embed security in development lifecycle 
  • Track and report meaningful security metrics to leadership.
  • Optimize security tooling and monitoring capabilities 

  1. Threat Intelligence & Partnerships 
    • Foster relationships with law enforcement and intelligence communities 
    • Develop threat intelligence program and response capabilities 
    • Build partnerships with industry security leaders 

  1. Team Leadership 
  • Mentor junior engineers as the team expands and foster a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Establish clear performance metrics and career paths 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives 
  • Scale security practices and processes as the organization grows.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • 7-10 years in a similar role in a multinational company or military law enforcement of combination of both.
  • Hands-on cybersecurity engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in:
    1. AWS cloud security (architecture, controls, and monitoring).
    2. DevSecOps and automation in CI/CD environments.
    3. Application security and the secure software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Experience working with or overseeing managed security service providers (MSSPs/MSPs).
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to dive deep into technical details.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.
  • Eagerness to grow into a leadership role, even if prior people management experience is limited.
  • Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Has demonstrated experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams (IT, Finance, Legal, Internal Audit, etc.)

 

Preferred but not required:

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Security Specialty, CISSP, or similar).
  • Familiarity with industry frameworks and standards (NIST and ISO).
