Role Overview

The Technical Business Analyst, Salesforce sits within Semtech’s Sales Operations team and is the critical link between business stakeholders and the Salesforce platform delivery team. This is primarily a BA and solution architecture role. The person in this seat leads requirements discovery, architects scalable Salesforce solutions, develops test strategies, and drives projects from concept through delivery in close partnership with Salesforce Administrators and Developers.

The ideal candidate understands how complex B2B sales processes work—ideally in semiconductor, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing—and has the Salesforce platform depth to translate that knowledge into well-architected, future-proof solutions.

What You’ll Do
Requirements Discovery & Business Analysis
  • Lead structured discovery sessions with stakeholders to elicit, analyze, and prioritize business requirements.
  • Translate complex processes into clear, actionable Salesforce functional specifications.
  • Document current-state and future-state process flows and data models.
  • Conduct gap analyses against existing Salesforce org configurations; surface risks, constraints, and dependencies early in the project lifecycle.
Solution Architecture & Design
  • Architect end-to-end Salesforce solutions that are scalable, maintainable, and aligned to Salesforce best practices and governor limits—across Sales Cloud, Experience Cloud, and custom frameworks.
  • Design declarative-first solutions (Flow, validation rules, custom objects, formula fields) and define when custom development (Apex, LWC) is warranted; author functional specs for Developer handoff.
  • Produce architecture diagrams, solution design documents, and decision logs that serve as the system of record for implemented changes.
  • Advise on integration design between Salesforce and adjacent systems; define data flow requirements and field-level mapping for development teams.
Testing & Quality Assurance
  • Develop comprehensive test plans and test case libraries covering functional, regression, and edge-case scenarios for all delivered solutions.
  • Define and execute user acceptance testing (UAT) strategies; coordinate test execution with business stakeholders and document outcomes.
  • Partner with Developers and Administrators to triage defects, confirm root cause, and validate fixes prior to production deployment.
  • Establish and maintain testing standards and templates that can be reused across future projects.
Project Leadership & Stakeholder Management
  • Run project discovery, design, and status meetings; prepare agendas, capture decisions and action items, and drive accountability to timelines.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by clearly communicating scope, timeline, risks, and trade-offs in business-friendly terms.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the Salesforce delivery team; translate requirements in both directions.
  • Coordinate release planning and change management activities; work with Sales Enablement to develop end-user communications and training materials.
Platform Knowledge & Governance
  • Maintain hands-on familiarity with Salesforce configuration (objects, fields, flows, profiles, permission sets, record types) to credibly challenge and validate solutions proposed by the delivery team.
  • Champion data governance standards: field naming conventions, picklist hygiene, duplicate rules, and cross-org data consistency.
  • Support audit and compliance activities by documenting configurations, access controls, and data flows relevant to Semtech’s sales processes.
Required Qualifications
Experience
  • 5+ years of Salesforce experience, with at least 3 years specifically in a Business Analyst, Solution Architect, or Technical BA capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience leading requirements sessions and producing functional specifications, process flows, user stories, and solution design documents.
  • Proven track record architecting Salesforce solutions for complex B2B sales environments.
  • Strong understanding of Sales and Service Cloud capabilities: lead and opportunity management, pipeline forecasting, approval processes, quoting, and channel/partner structures.
  • Experience developing test plans, writing test cases, and running UAT in a Salesforce context.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate cross-functional project meetings, drive decisions, and manage stakeholder alignment across business and technical teams.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce configuration (flows, validation rules, custom objects, profiles, permission sets) sufficient to evaluate feasibility and review delivered solutions.
  • Comfortable writing SOQL queries to investigate data, validate solutions, and support ad hoc analysis.
Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to break down ambiguous business problems into structured, implementable platform requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; skilled at translating between business language and technical Salesforce concepts for both audiences.
  • Highly organized and self-directed; able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced global technology company.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio or equivalent) for documentation, process mapping, and stakeholder presentations.
Certifications (at least one required)
  • Salesforce Certified Business Analyst
  • Salesforce Certified Sales Cloud Consultant
  • Salesforce Certified Administrator or Advanced Administrator
  • Salesforce Certified Platform App Builder
  • Salesforce Certified Application Architect or System Architect
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in the semiconductor, electronics, or high-tech manufacturing industry; familiarity with semiconductor sales concepts such as design registrations, design wins, distributor sell-through reporting, and manufacturer representative channel structures.
  • Background supporting a global, multi-tier B2B channel model.
  • Experience with Salesforce Experience Cloud / partner community portals, including portal architecture, licensing models, and partner-facing process design.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce Apex and Lightning Web Components at a functional specification level—able to write clear developer requirements without necessarily coding.
  • Exposure to Salesforce CPQ, Revenue Cloud, or configure-price-quote processes in a technical sales environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
