Company Overview

At Zuora, we do Modern Business. We’re helping people subscribe to new ways of doing business that are better for people, companies and ultimately the planet. It’s an approach resulting from the shift to the Subscription Economy that puts customers first by building recurring relationships instead of one-time product sales and focuses on sustainable growth. Through our leading expertise and multi-product suite, we are transforming all industries and working with the world’s most innovative companies to monetize new business models, nurture subscriber relationships and optimize their digital experiences.

The Team & Role

The Technical Architect is an expert in translating business problems into technical solutions leveraging the full capabilities of the Zuora Subscription platform, and ensures that the proposed solution adheres to Zuora best practices. The Architect can manage teams of Technical Consultants on multiple strategic projects simultaneously, while proactively dealing with customer escalations and identifying project risks. This individual can communicate professionally and directly with senior-level executives, and will work cross-collaboratively with Product Management and Engineering to ensure client issues are clearly articulated and a path to resolution is identified and followed to completion.

Through individual actions and on a day to day basis, the Technical Architect will demonstrate a clear understanding of Customer Success. This means developing complex technical design solutions to solve business problems and not simply write code.

This is a hybrid position, so you'll work both remotely and in the office.

The Technical Architect will carry out the following activities:

  • Lead Sprint Planning, Run Daily Scrum meetings and Backlog Management.
  • Identify areas of complexity when gathering requirements and propose technical solutions.
  • Independently run Technical Design and Integration workshops with customer’s business and technical teams.
  • Independently own and manage large-scale development projects overseeing a team of Technical Consultants through all life cycle phases.
  • Collaborate and manage several concurrent projects, which could include coding and design, coordinating new releases or documenting projects.
  • Provide the client with technical expertise on the Zuora platform and integration technologies.
  • Review the work done by the Client or by an implementing Partner in order to provide guidance, feedback and resolve issues.
  • Assist pre-sales by providing detailed estimates for complex customizations.
  • Work with the Solution Architect and other team members to ensure proper application of all phases of the systems development life cycle (SDLC), and that completion dates are met with quality work.
  • Mentor other Technical Consultants.
  • 30-50% travel is required, depending on project requirements and client expectations.
  • Define methodology and best practices for the Technical Consulting Center of Excellence.

Your experience

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a Computer related major.
  • 5 to 8 years of technical consulting experience involving the customization, development, and integration of software modules that are customized to meet business requirements.
  • 3 years Order to Cash experience within a professional services organization, ideally with at least 2 years delivering billing solutions.
  • 4 years of experience Architecting, Designing and Implementing Salesforce CPQ with Advanced Salesforce Skills - Visualforce / LWC and APEX.
  • 5 years of programming experience with SOAP/REST API’s, XML, JSON, client and server side technologies.
  • 5 years of experience implementing and customizing solutions for Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software and Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) software in Software as a Service (SaaS) environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to accurately scope, plan and estimate the level of effort for complex tasks.
  • Demonstrated strength with complex problem decomposition.
  • Experience in both Agile and Waterfall development environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of highly talented software professionals in a rapid development environment.
