Job TitleTechnical Application Specialist

Job Description

The Technical Application Specialist will serve as a primary technical field contact for our customers and work closely with our regional sales and marketing teams. The TAS will work directly with customers to design solutions tailored for customer requirements and provide both pre- and post-sales technical support for GENEWIZ services and products, with a strong focus on gene synthesis. This role will also provide insights into customer needs and market trends, assist in leads generation, and support brand activities. This position will be based in Australia, with travel requirements of up to 50% locally and regionally.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise and collaborate with customers in Australia, New Zealand and assigned regions, at both pre- and post-sale stages.

• Provide expert understanding and strong technical competency in discussing GENEWIZ’s gene synthesis and related services and workflows.

• Communicate company’s services and products to our customers through content creation. scientific seminars, application workshops, product demos and training

• Identify and engage with prospects and KOLs, and provide leads, feedback and market trends for the sales, marketing and technical teams.

• Work with marketing and technical teams to develop and update workflow applications and educational content for customer training in the form of videos, seminars, training manuals, etc.

• Collaborate with the marketing team on creating a marketing plan, registering/planning/attending local vendor shows, creating and executing on campaigns

• Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Inside Sales, Technical Support, Accounts and Channel Managers to ensure effective collaboration of resources to deliver on customers’ needs

• Local and regional travel (up to 50%) to work in the field independently, with sales or marketing, attend both internal and external meetings with key customers, provide training, and participate in trade shows and conferences

• Keep the commercial teams informed about the competitive market landscape and research development through attending industry seminars, trade shows, and conferences

• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

• MSc/PhD in any fields related to molecular biology

• Hands-on laboratory experience or direct working knowledge on gene synthesis

• Have worked as technical support, technical sales, sales or field applications in related life science industries in Australia.

• Strong network with the Australian life science research community, biotechnology, clinical or pharmaceutical industries.

• Fluency in English.

• Excellent verbal, written, presentation, negotiation, interpersonal and organization skills

• Customer-centric and solutions-driven mindset, and tactful and empathetic approach

• High self-motivation and able to manage priorities effectively

• Must have demonstrated ability to work synergistically and communicate effectively in a collaborative team environment

• Understand customer needs and thought process, and communicate effectively to customers the appropriate GENEWIZ’s solutions, with the aim of adding value to customers

• Shows understanding of market trends, business dynamics and scientific advances – and their respective impact on customers

• Resourceful and is comfortable in navigating through internal resources by collaborating cross-functionally

Preferred

• PhD is a plus • Experience of customer support and use of CRM system a plus • NGS experience is a bonus

• Fluency in one other language.
