Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as our SALT Director with a focus on Sales Tax Compliance. This role will lead and manage the end-to-end Sales and Use Tax compliance function across both U.S. and India locations, ensuring delivery of high-quality, timely, and accurate compliance services for a growing and complex client base.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and operational oversight of multistate sales and use tax compliance engagements
  • Lead and manage both U.S. and offshore (India-based) compliance teams, ensuring alignment, efficiency, and consistency in service delivery
  • Build and scale a high-performing compliance team to meet growing client demand and evolving service needs
  • Drive process optimization through automation, technology implementation, and workflow improvements
  • Serve as a technical expert and subject matter authority in sales and use tax regulations, filings, and compliance processes
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes affecting sales tax and lead timely adaptation of compliance practices
  • Partner with leadership to align sales tax compliance offerings with firm-wide business objectives and growth strategies

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Proven experience managing large, complex sales tax compliance operations, including offshore teams and global delivery models
  • Demonstrated ability to develop client relationships, address issues proactively, and deliver exceptional service
  • Skilled in mentoring and growing high-performing teams, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence across global locations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, and a strategic mindset capable of balancing technical depth with client-centric execution

Qualifications:

  • BS in Accounting required, master’s in taxation or LLM is a plus
  • CPA, JD/LLM, or CMI required

  • 10+ years of state and local tax experience, with a focus on sales and use tax, preferably in public accounting or a consulting environment

  • Proven experience managing complex engagements and delivering high-quality client service
  • Strong technical research, analytical, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including team development and mentorship
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and collaborative environment

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Crowe, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $185,500.00 - $492,000.00 per year.
