About the Role
Our client is seeking a Tax Manager to take ownership of an established book of individual clients and manage those relationships end-to-end. The firm has a full support team handling all data entry and return preparation. You come in to review, sign, and own the client relationships, deliver the finished product, and handle any questions or follow-up with confidence. The focus is on volume and relationship management rather than complexity, making it a great fit for someone who thrives running a large book of business efficiently.
This role is ideal for a strong manager or emerging senior manager who is client-oriented, reliable, and looking for a clear path to growth over time.
Key Responsibilities
Manage an established book of individual clients, serving as the day-to-day owner of those relationships and ensuring clients are taken care of from start to finish
Serve as the primary client-facing contact, delivering returns, answering questions, and maintaining strong relationships independently so firm leadership can focus on higher-level priorities
Review ~400 returns prepared by the support team, ensure accuracy, and sign off before client delivery during busy season
Take on more complex tax work in the off-season as a development and growth opportunity, building toward more advanced responsibilities over time
Operate independently and run the day-to-day of your book of business while leveraging firm leadership as a background resource when needed
Requirements
4+ years of public accounting or tax experience
CPA preferred but not required
Strong tax background across individual and entity returns with comfort managing high volume
Client-facing experience and the ability to independently manage relationships
Reliable, organized, and able to manage a large book of work efficiently
Growth-minded with an interest in developing into more advanced work over time
