Tax Manager - Investment Partnership

Job Overview

Topel Forman is seeking an experienced Tax Manager – Investment Partnerships with a strong background in fund-of-funds taxation, including private equity and hedge fund structures, investor special allocations, and U.S. reporting of foreign activities. The ideal candidate will take ownership of complex tax compliance engagements, play an active role in developing our team, and contribute to the modernization of our processes, workpapers, and technology-enabled workflows as our investment partnership practice continues to grow.

This position is hybrid in our Denver office, but is largely remote with the flexibility for you to choose when you would like to work in the office.

Responsibilities

• Oversee preparation and review of fund-of-funds partnership tax returns, including Schedules K-1 and K-3.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. tax reporting of foreign investments and income.
• Research and resolve federal and state tax matters affecting investment partnerships and their investors.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and collaborate with practice leadership to develop and implement solutions.
• Mentor, develop, and retain staff through active participation in the firm's mentoring program.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA)
• Minimum of 5 or more years of experience working with investment partnership tax clients 
• Strong investment partnership tax knowledge and demonstrated ability to independently manage complex compliance engagements.
• Strong Excel proficiency and an interest in process improvement and technology.
• Strong leadership and personnel management skills

Preferred Requirements

• Experience with CCH Axcess Tax.
• Experience with large partner populations and complex multistate partnership compliance.
• Experience developing or implementing standardized workpapers, compliance processes, or automation initiatives.
• Experience with or interest in data analytics, AI, automation, and other technologies that enhance tax compliance and reporting.
