Our mission is driven by an unyielding commitment to advancing space-based technology in service of our customers and safeguarding national security. We seek individuals who are passionate about innovating beyond boundaries and relentlessly pursuing solutions that protect, preserve and empower – to join us in this critical mission.

We’re looking for team members who align with our values, mission and goals – while also meeting the minimum qualifications below. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

The key responsibilities for this role encompass a wide range of tax-related functions across federal, state, and international domains. The individual will represent the organization in tax audits, appeals, and litigation at various levels, developing strategies to resolve disputes with the IRS, state tax authorities, and international regulators. They will also provide legal counsel on compliance matters and risk mitigation related to tax laws.

Additionally, they will support mergers and acquisitions (M&A) by offering tax advice on domestic and international transactions, conducting due diligence, structuring deals, assisting with post-transaction integration, and negotiating tax-related provisions in agreements.

Collaboration is also a critical aspect of this role, as the individual will work closely with internal teams, such as finance, legal, and business units, to provide tax guidance, while also engaging with external advisors like law and accounting firms to address complex tax matters. Furthermore, they will act as a subject-matter-expert, offering training and education on federal, state, and international tax issues to internal stakeholders as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

  • Admission to a state bar in good standing.

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in federal, state, and international tax matters, with a focus on controversy, planning, and M&A transactions.

  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and international tax laws, regulations, and procedures.

  • Experience in handling federal, state, and international tax audits, appeals, and litigation.

  • Proven ability to provide strategic tax planning advice in a business context.

  • Expertise in analyzing and structuring M&A transactions, including cross-border deals, from a tax perspective.

  • Exceptional legal research, writing, and communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • LL.M. in Taxation or equivalent advanced degree.

  • Experience working in a law firm, Big Four accounting firm, or corporate tax department.

  • Familiarity with transfer pricing, BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting), and other international tax frameworks.

  • Experience advising state and local tax (SALT) issues, including nexus, apportionment, and sales/use tax matters.

  • Experience with government contractors and federal investment tax credits.

  • Graduate from a top 25 U.S. law school.
