Tax Accounting Analyst

About the role:

Our Accounting team is growing, and we're looking for a Tax Accounting Analyst to help keep 8am compliant across sales tax, local tax, and payroll tax. Reporting to the Tax Manager, you'll process tax notices, work directly with tax authorities, stay ahead of filing deadlines, and partner with Payroll and AP to keep everything booked and accurate. What you'll do:

• Process tax notices and keep accurate records in our tracking system.
• Communicate directly with federal, state, and local tax authorities to resolve issues.
• Monitor and resolve tax tickets in Zendesk, and keep the tax compliance calendar ahead of deadlines.
• Help calculate and make quarterly estimated and extension tax payments.
• Prepare and file personal property tax returns and support California environmental fee workpapers.
• Partner with Payroll on payroll tax filings and with AP to book tax payments correctly.
• Review monthly sales tax returns for accuracy and document tax processes for the team.
• Use AI tools to speed up tax notice processing, research, and deadline tracking.

About you:

• 2+ years in a tax or accounting role.
• High accuracy and strong attention to detail.
• Clear written and verbal communicator across functions.
• Comfortable in a support role juggling multiple client-facing responsibilities.
• Hands-on experience using AI tools to automate or optimize your workflows.
• Bachelor's in Tax, Accounting, or a related field
• Bonus: experience in a multi-entity or multi-state tax environment.
• Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve workflows, enhance decision-making, or drive innovation.
