Join us as an Atlassian Administrator on our Product & Technology (P&T) Operations team. This role will encompass both Atlassian administrator responsibilities, as well as Atlassian developer tasks. This will be a hybrid position, with one day required in the office during most weeks.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As an Atlassian administrator, you’ll keep our Product and Technology teams running smoothly. You’ll maintain the products and troubleshoot issues. We’ll also rely on you to work on projects, either for migrations or to build new solutions and workflows. This job involves intensive collaboration with the P&T Operations team and the software development teams that we support.

What You’ll Do

In this role you will support and maintain the Atlassian family of products in our Jira Cloud – Jira Software, Jira Service Management (JSM), Confluence, Jira Product Discovery, Bitbucket, StatusPage, and others – for the P&T organization, as well as, to a lesser extent, support and maintain our IBM TargetProcess instance.

  • Own configuration, maintenance, administration, and support of Atlassian products.
  • Serve as an advocate and Subject Matter Expert for Atlassian within P&T.
  • Gather requirements, propose solutions, prepare status reports, and develop roadmap presentations.
  • Design, architect, deploy, integrate, improve, troubleshoot and support scalable development, test, and production environments running various Atlassian components.
  • Atlassian Administrator Responsibilities
    • User Management: Creating, updating, and managing user accounts and permissions.
    • Jira Project Configuration: Setting up and configuring projects, issue types, workflows, and custom fields.
    • System Maintenance: Monitoring system performance, managing upgrades, and implementing patches.
    • Workflow Management: Designing and optimizing workflows to support project management best practices.
    • Customization: Implementing customizations to meet the needs of various teams, including dashboards, filters, and reports.
    • Integration: Coordinating Jira integrations with other tools and applications (e.g., Confluence, Bitbucket).
    • Technical Support: Providing support to users, troubleshooting issues, and resolving queries related to Atlassian products’ usage.
    • Documentation: Maintaining documentation of configurations, processes, and best practices.
  • Atlassian/Jira Developer Responsibilities
    • API Integration: Developing and integrating third-party applications using Jira APIs.
    • Automation: Implementing automation scripts to improve efficiency and streamline processes.
    • Custom Reports: Building custom reports and dashboards to provide insights into project metrics.
    • Code Reviews: Reviewing and maintaining existing code, ensuring quality and compliance with best practices.
    • Collaboration: Working with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical solutions.
    • Testing: Conducting unit tests, regression tests, and participating in user acceptance testing of new features.
    • Performance Optimization: Analyzing and optimizing performance issues related to custom development or Jira instances.

The Experience You Bring

  • 5-8 years of experience in configuration, administration, and maintenance of Jira Software, Jira Product Discovery (JPD), OpsGenie, Confluence, Jira Service Management (JSM), and Bitbucket in a technology or high-growth SaaS product development company.
  • Experience customizing Jira projects with various schemes, complex workflows, screen schemes, permission schemes, and notification schemes.
  • Strong Jira Query Language (JQL) knowledge and experience customizing workflows, setting up dashboards, and generating reports.
  • Strong JavaScript and SQL knowledge.
  • Ability to write scripts to automate and customize Jira, including scheduling and resource loading.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an ability to recognize opportunities and develop ways of addressing them.
  • Strong communication skills and enthusiasm to help others.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to document and explain technical details clearly and concisely.
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering or other related discipline

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience directly integrating Atlassian products with other systems is preferable.
  • Experience with IBM TargetProcess.
  • Experience with GitHub.
  • Familiarity with AI.
  • Plugin Development: Creating custom plugins and extensions to enhance Jira's functionalities.
