KBR, is seeking a highly motivated Systems Administrator to join us in supporting our great nation, supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) development team in Colorado Springs, CO.

As the Air Force's leader for National-to-Tactical capability development, AFRL collaborates with leading experts across the Intelligence Community, Department of Defense, National Laboratories, industry, inter-agency, academia, and partner nations. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage cloud-based information systems, ensuring availability, performance, scalability, and security
  • Harden information systems against NIST, DoD, and IC security requirements to include the NIST 800-53 and 800-171 controls, and DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs)
  • Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues proactively
  • Collaborate with development teams to deploy applications and ensure they meet scalability, reliability, and security requirements
  • Manage and automate routine administrative tasks, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay up-to-date with and implement the latest industry technologies, trends, and best practices
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the security of new and existing systems and applications
  • Lead or attend meetings with system stakeholders to discuss statuses of efforts

Work Environment:

  • Location: Colorado Springs, CO – 100% Onsite
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal
  • Working Hours: Standard

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Security Clearance: Must have an active U.S. government Top Secret/SCI security clearance, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtain
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in computer, information systems or related field
  • DoD 8570-compliant IAT Level II certification (e.g. CompTIA Security+)
  • Experience with cloud service providers (CSPs) (e.g. AWS, Azure)
  • Git/GitLab experience
  • Experience with programming (scripting) languages (i.e. Bash, Python, .Net or Java)
  • Apache open-source products (i.e. NiFi, Kafka, Zookeeper)
  • Security+
  • Experience with Virtual Machines and Type 1 hypervisors, e.g. KVM, ESXi
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux (e.g. Red Hat Enterprise Linux)
  • Experience with technologies such as Kubernetes, Puppet, and Ansible
  • Experience in implementing DISA STIGs and SRGs
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Linux System Administrator

  • Risk Management Framework implementation
  • Software development experience (i.e. C++, Java, C)

Basic Compensation: $94,800 - $142,100 (For the Colorado Springs Area Only)
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation:

KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
