Pay Range: 
$40,000 - $67,000 annually (non-exempt; overtime eligible)

*This range represents annualized compensation based on a full-time (40 hours/week) schedule.  Overtime is paid in accordance with applicable law. 

Incentives
Eligible for an annual performance-based bonus and participation in the company’s equity incentive plan, subject to applicable plan terms.

Onboarding/Training:

The initial start date for this hiring group is Monday, February 9, 2026. New hires are required to complete two weeks of in-person training at a local office. Following training, the role includes ongoing in-office team meetings and periodic in-person training sessions, at a minimum on a monthly basis. 

Availability Requirement:
Candidates must be available to start on February 9, 2026, and attend the full two weeks of in-person training. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered for this role, but are encouraged to apply for future hiring waves as they become available.

Position Overview

    The Surplus Lines Processor is a member of the operations team and works cross-functionally with Compliance and Finance to support regulatory obligations. This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely filing of surplus lines documentation, taxes, and related fees. Under direct supervision of  the Assistant Vice President Risk, this role supports surplus lines compliance activities across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., develops working knowledge of state filing systems, ensures timely tax payments are made, and collaborates with internal stakeholders to maintain a compliance-forward customer experience. 

    Job Duties

    • Complete the timely and accurate filing of approximately 5,500 surplus lines policies and endorsements annually across all 50 states and Washington, D.C., including completing “$0 dollar” filings as needed
    • Review policy data for accuracy prior to filing, coordinating corrections with internal support as needed
    • Coordinate the collection and tracking of required surplus lines documentation, including signatures and stamped forms
    • Review and resolve filing questions, discrepancies, tags, or other regulatory inquiries associated with filings, coordinating with internal stakeholders as necessary
    • Prepare and deliver required reports and supporting information for review by Finance and Compliance teams in spreadsheet and analysis softwares 
    • Maintain organized case queues and updates case records to ensure clear communication, documentation, and transparency
    • Process and confirm receipt of surplus lines and related tax payments in cooperation with Finance
    • Provide data and documentation support for audits, regulatory requests, and internal reviews as needed
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • A high school diploma or equivalent required
    • Multi-state surplus lines filing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Working knowledge of surplus lines insurance, commercial insurance policy types and surplus lines regulations or willingness to learn
    • General understanding of states’ surplus lines filing systems (e.g., proprietary state systems, SLIP and multi-state SLIP+, Optins, InsCipher, and ELANY)
    • Proven ability to prioritize and manage work independently
    • Demonstrated critical thinking skills with the ability to recognize and correct incorrect information, and escalate as needed
    • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office - specifically Sheets/Excel Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Ability to work cross-culturally on a global team
    • Ability to perform effectively in a remote work environment
