FirstEnergy Supply Chain Contract Review Intern
(Paralegal / Contract Law Internship)

Position Type: Paid Internship with potential for long-term internship and future full-time employment
Position Summary
FirstEnergy is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Contract Review Intern to support the Supply Chain Contract Review Team (CRT). This internship provides hands-on experience reviewing contracts, managing legal and procurement documentation, supporting contract administration activities, and collaborating with internal business partners, Supply Chain professionals, and Legal.
This position is designed for students pursuing careers in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Pre-Law, Contract Management, or Law. While the internship is structured around an academic semester, FirstEnergy's preference is to retain the successful candidate for 1–2 years while they complete their undergraduate and/or graduate studies, providing increasing responsibility and professional development opportunities.
This role may serve as a pipeline for future full-time opportunities within FirstEnergy's Supply Chain, Contract Review, or related business functions.
Internship Commitment
This internship offers flexible scheduling during the academic year, with the option to work either part-time (20 hours per week) or full-time (40 hours per week) based on the selected candidate's preference and availability. Interns who are invited to continue in the program will be expected to transition to a full-time schedule (40 hours per week) during the summer.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing and processing supplier contracts, amendments, statements of work (SOWs), and related legal documents.
- Support the Contract Review Team by tracking contract status, approvals, and key milestones.
- Review documents for completeness, consistency, and compliance with internal procedures.
- Coordinate with Supply Chain, Legal, Risk, and business stakeholders to obtain required information and approvals.
- Maintain contract records and documentation within company systems.
- Assist with contract reporting, data analysis, and audit support activities.
- Conduct legal and business research related to contract terms, procurement requirements, and regulatory considerations.
- Prepare correspondence, summaries, presentations, and project documentation.
- Support special projects focused on process improvement, contract administration, and operational efficiency.
- Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Completed an Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies and currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Pre-Law, Business, or a related field; OR
- Possess a Paralegal Certificate and currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Graduate degree; OR
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, Pre-Law, or a related discipline; OR
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Law School (J.D.) program.
Preferred:
- Junior or Senior undergraduate student.
- First-year or second-year law student.
- Interest in contracts, procurement, supply chain, contract administration, or corporate law.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing documents and tracking information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and prioritize work effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous internship, legal office, contract administration, procurement, or administrative experience.
- Familiarity with contract terminology and legal documentation.
- Experience conducting research and analyzing information.
- Interest in corporate law, supply chain, procurement, or contract management.
